Our 1.9 diesel (now 120k miles) still runs fabulously and starts first time in any weather condition, even down to -15C. But, if I stop during a journey to pop to a shop or post a letter, it is almost impossible to get it to start again. It cranks over for a good 4-5 seconds before reluctantly catching. It's been doing this for at least the last 40K miles, and our very good VW garage is stumped by the problem. Has anyone encountered a similar problem, or can recommend a possible reason and solution?

I had this a few years ago with a Passat with an "out of tolerance" temperature sensor. When starting from warm(ish) it wouldn't use glow plugs at all and was really hard to start (needed a lot of cranking over) until thoroughly cooled down.. Replaced the sensor and all was well.

Is this an astonishly good car? ( as in HJ review) or is it barely adequate transport? Any C3 Picasso owners out there care to comment?

A colleague had one on lease and whilst it did him for two years he never managed to get over how badly placed the handbrake was. He felt it was too low for the high seating position.

Similar issue with the radio which is mounted below the heater controls and slightly out of comfortable reach for the number of buttons it has.

As with all cars its these nuances that can annoy, but may not be noticed until a few weeks after you take delivery.

recently a friend of mine was charged with DD, blew 43, awaiting blood test results, however the local police has put his bail date as feb 2014! Will this stand up in court or have they ballsed up ?

When the result of the blood test comes back they will inspect the file (and realise a mistake?) They will send out a letter or contact and say no show if this is the only offence.

IF positive then they will inspect the file, see the mistake and call him in to be charged with the offence (s?), or

issue a summons.

The apparently mistake does in no way give him a get out of jail card.

One presumes there were no conditions attached to his bail as non stated.

Until, such time as his Licence is taken away free to drive.

Difficult to be exact without make/model and your location (London is more expensive than Middlesbrough). I'd pay around that sum at my Citroen specialist in Northampton for a major service - most cars have some sort of pattern where intermediate services are not much more than an oil/filter change.

I'd also expect bulbs and wipers to be changed and charged at retail parts and book/actual time.

The gist: Research says the standard answer is a Mondeo, any other suggestions?

I currently have a 96 Primeria (P10 2L Petrol) which is falling apart and who's exhaust won't be hanging on for much longer. (Last MOT advisory list was pretty long, but saying that it's always started first time and never broken down and still does 28-35mpg).... Read more

Good morning all. I have a Peugot 306 estate, Y reg 1.9 diesel. Was working fine until last week where it would not start coming home from work. Eventually after a few goes it started and drove home perfectly. However, I switched off for two minutes and then it would not start again at all. Left it overnight and it started first thing but drive 1/2 mile and switched off... same problem, would not start.

The problem was intermittent until eventually acomplete stop and a tow home with the AA forced a fuel pump actuator solenioid change. After changing it, the car started first time (yesterday). I drove around switching on and off all day without a problem but again this morning, nothing!... Read more

Yes. This was changeed last week as a first off. They appear to be tricky to test but when we removed it and turned the engine over, it is spurting fuel so I would assume it is working. Initially when we fitted it as a rplacement, the car kicked into life first time and ran well for a day of testing but then the next morning, back to cranking only
