I recently bought an Audi from Mpm Ltd. in Weybridge. I had been dealing with a franchised dealer and then came accross their website by accident. I can honestly say the the service was much better and I was not put under any of the usual sales pressure.I am delighted with my car and just wanted to recommend them to anyone who is looking for an Audi Quattro. I will certainly be going back when the time gomes to upgrade. Read more

Probably my suspicious nature Avant. Sorry.

But as MPM Limited is a company of electricians in Hertfordshire, I'm extra careful when a trading style belies the truth. Having said that, the website of Marc Paul Motors Limited clearly states their true identity, so I'm probably seeing ghosts!

Hello,

Do any of the VW 1.6 TDI CAYA (75BHP) or CAYB (90BHP) engines come *without* a DPF as standard? I may need to replace my trusty 2008 Skoda Fabia 1.4Tdi (BNV version = no DPF) nicely run in after a faultless 165,000 miles. But I do not want a DPF. If I cannot find a 1.6 TDI without a DPF then I guess I will just stick with my trusty Fabia. Read more

IIRC the way to tell if a VAG engine has a DPF is the 3 letters at the beginning of the engine code. Try looking on a VAG forum for the codes

I had a problem with my E30 318i stuttering, and thought it may be a fuel problem, but before replacing the fuel filter, I thought I'd replace the spark plugs and HT leads (number two lead had a burn hole in it), these had not been renewed for several years.

About a week or so ago, I replaced the spark plugs and HT Leads, barr one, the number one spark lead (with the sensor cable on it), after having disconnected the negative wire to the battery 'first'. I left the number one lead and sensor cable on as access to the crank sensor connector was difficult, and I had not got a socket set handy.... Read more

Hi Rob

The first thing to check would be your battery connections, make sure that both the connectors and posts are shiny clean, then follow the negative lead from the battery to the engine/gearbox/chassis and make sure the connections are tight....

I think the BMA is getting ideas above its station. It's the NHS's job to offer healthcare, not dictate lifestyle choices. Yes it's frustrating to have patients disregard advice, but that's common in most industries. Live with it.

The fire brigade used to rush off and fight fires. Now they spend a lot of time visiting homes and commercial buildings, and advising on safety e.g. fire alarms, fire escapes, removing dangerous materials etc. Prevention is better and cheaper than the alternative. I don't see why medics cannot adopt the same approach. Ideally of course we want people to live and pay taxes till they retire, then drop down dead, with no nasty expensive long term illness.

Anyone else had a problem like this ?

I booked a test drive with a local Main Ford Dealer for today, they knew exactly the car I was interested in & cinfirmed they had a car available to the required spec. On arrival this morning, after hanging around for 30 minutes they then advised me that the car had been loaned to Asda for the day but I was able to inspect the car in the showroom and that a vehicle with a lower spec is available for a test drive. Obviously I refused this offer. I telephoned another dealer and arranged a test drive there within the hour. completed the test drive, sorted out the money side and ordered the car.... Read more

Not surprised.

Back in April when we were looking to buy a new replacement for our Mazda 2, we booked an appointment/test drive with our local dealer (who we had bought 3 new mazda's from previously). When we arrived the salesperson had gone out with another customer. We waited in the showroom for 35 minutes, and were ignored by the rest of the sales staff....

Hi,

I have a 2007 diesel polo (9n3). It's the BNV engine and (I think) the 3 cylinder 59 kw engine.

Am looking online and can find no obvious belt interval, would be very grateful if anyone knew.

Thanks in advance. Read more

Apologies up front for my descriptions as I know very little about car engines.

I took my car (1.6 HDI focus estate) into the garage on Friday for a full service and MOT. Due to the miliage they also said it needed its timing belt changed which I agreed to. When I went to collect it was still in their workshop and they couldn't get it started. They said the fuel lines had become airlocked and that they didn't have the kit to sort it, but would fix it the next day.... Read more

As you say your car was having a full service, the fuel filter will probably have been changed. So there may well have been the air in the fuel line. If the engine was mis-timed after belt replacement, they could have been cranking it over, trying to purge air, and bashing all the valves. There are oil pressure tensioners, but only on chain cam engines, so that is a lie. Are you in AA or RAC or similar, because you need a professional in now to inspect the engine and advise you.
