1998 peugeot 206 1.6 ls - blaupunkt stereo not working - cptchalk

recently i bought a 1998 peugeot 206 1.6 ls, which has a blaupunk casette player. for some reason it no longer works. there is power going to the stereo as the backlight on the poer button still works. however, the stereo does not turn on. can anyone suggest anything? i dont have a manual for the car, as the previous owner didnt have one. ive shecked all the fuses and all of them are fine. any suggestions???

Perhaps the unit has come to the end of its life.
