Hi,

Pegeout 206 1.6 8v 2000 model. My car is driving me crazy! Won't start when hot, starts when cold. Also, reving erratically (around 3k revs)usually when driving and dip the clutch to change gear the revs do not drop. Just now I was stuck at a junction in neutral and it was stuck at 4k revs. Normally idles at 1k no problem when cold. Any advise welcome? I am thinking Crank sensor?... Read more

Honda Civics of the model your refer to are high value for good reason, simply excellent cars the best of which imo is the 2.0S type of which my daughter has one now on 140k and totaly reliable.

Toyota Corolla another equally fine car....

I have a 2012 Tekna 171 manual. When pulling away from rest with a cold engine I frequently get one or two cylinder misfires. Once the engine has warmed up it doesn't seem to happen (as far as I can tell). Has anyone else seen this? My Nissan dealer says that if there are no fault indications, it's probably ok. I'm not so sure!

Hi a noise came into the engine of my astra .I thought that the drivebelt wwas slipping but changed that .Then i checked all pullies worked by the drive belt.I took off the belt and ran the engine but the squeeling noise was still there .The noise was coming from the oil fliter/turbo area .I contacted the main opel dealer and they told me it sounded like the turbo was the fault.I got a local mechenic who said it was the vaccum control valve connected to the turbo or the turbo its self .I got it run through a dionostics test and the guy said it was showing air pressure drops and it was the turbo.I replaced the turbo vaccum valve changed the oil and filters checked feed pipes etc made sure everything was spot on .But when i started the van the squeeling noise was still there just as bad .Anyone have any ideas ? I really need the van and this is losing me work Read more

Are you sure it is not a split boost pipe. Regards Peter

Can anyone help? Mechanics are mystified even after road tests and pit inspection. The car runs really sweetly except between 1200-1900 RPM when we get an irritating noise caused by a metallic vibration somewhere in back left side of engine bay. There is nothing loose or missing under the car or in the engine bay that they can see and they have ruled out exhaust shield problems and gear box whine. Car has done 55,000 miles and is garaged and otherwise a joy to drive and own but the noise appears in the most used rev range and is driving us nuts. Any suggestions to look into welcome. Read more

If it isn´t anything outside the engine then it has to be something inside it pehaps a bearing failing on the crankshaft.
