Last Tuesday 19th Feb I bought a 10yr old Nissan Terrano from a garage - 70,000 miles, one owner, FSH, £4,000.

I drove it 80 miles home and parked it on the driveway where it stayed until Thursday. Within 30 mins of driving it again, it had stopped 5 times before I managed to get it to my garage.... Read more

Tell them to collect it I believe you are entitled to your money back you are certainly entitled to have it repaired by the selling garage under SOGA.A fuel pump costs about 30ukp a diesel injector pump costs around 750ukps

The sensors beep at a constant rate and do not change when nearing an object.

Cleaned the sensors but to no avail. Any ideas? Read more

Been underneath the rear bumper, no joints/plugs here to disconnect. Traced the 4 wires up into the boot and into the rear quarter panel. Thats as far as I got!...

Just bought a C4 Grand Picasso. The MOT was expiring, so the dealer said he'd put it through an MOT. When we picked up, he said it had passed with no advisory. When we got it home we found 2 chips in the windscreen, one in drivers line of vision. That shouldn't have got through without an advisory. BUT, when I checked the MOT for last year, the two chips were mentioned in the advisory, so my question is, how on earth did it get through the MOT this time without being spotted? I have 2 chips in my windscreen, is there anything I can do as there is no way this should not have been flagged up. Is it as bad as I think it is? Read more

I came looking for advice on a site called HonestJohn. It seems some of the posters here are very quick to ridicule without actually understanding issues such as conflict of interest.

davebt - in your OP you didn't make clear whether the test was done by the selling dealer. With hindsight you may feel that a result from a disinterested tester would be more credible, but when the seller has done the test you may always have doubts. But as it seems your screen damage is within permitted limits, any tester is entitled to advise or not. The only question is whether the test was done thoroughly....

Asf the price of fuel is on the rise again I wanted to let people know about a new dashboard fuel saver I call the 'Smooth Driver'. I made this simple prototype instrument at home and it works like a dream.( You could make one yourself), See it in action on youtube, where I have just posted a video showing how it performs with my Ford Focus. Just enter ' Mark11 Smooth Driver Fuel Saver ' into google or youtube.com,

I would be pleased to have any comments and can provide detail if required. Thanks Read more

Hi can anybody help me?? I have just been given a company car which has a electric brake. It took me a few days to get used to it, however I live on a steep hill and I'm struggling to reverse up to get out of a parking space in the mornings . What am I missing??? I do the usual, reverse, press button, but car goes forward, tried so many times, still going forwards, hate the car, need to go back to manual handbrake. Any suggestions please?? Read more

Make sure you are wearing your seatbelt. The brake will disengage automatically if the car is in gear and there is some power via the throttle to get to biting point.

Here's an alternative viewpoint on driving in the UK, from the editor of the Aussie web magazine, Autospeed.

If they want to get from France to Brighton, as huge numbers of people do?, why not use a Portsmouth ferry and pickup the M27 ?

Look at the map of channel ferry crossings. Portsmouth and Dover ferries don't leave France from the same places? 'They' would have to make a similar choice between (e.g) Calais and Cherbourg.

My point was that most people arriving at Dover DON'T want to get to Brighton - they want to get everywhere in the UK whether it's business, pleasure or freight.

Many apologies to Barney100 and others who tried to have a sensible discussion on fuel prices; but the thread descended into abuse, with the words 'racist', 'bigot' and 'moron' being used. Once again, the reason was that someone brought up the subject of immigration.

I considered just deleting some of the threads. but that could have appeared unfair, so the whole thread has to go.... Read more

So if we could have knocked 10p off a litre of petrol then we could have been spared the problems that will follow the lower credit rating and the pound going further down the toilet.

I never said that. I said fuel (and general energy price) is a contributant, I never said cause. The credit crisis was built on a house of soggy cards and was always going to happen, politicians have done a good job convincing you it's all the Americans fault but that's not the case....
