Previously trouble free Kangoo now vibrates through steering wheel/seat and pedal following oil change at 42k.( the service countdown on the dash indicated a symbol that looks like a container with a droplet over it, which i was advised indicated that the engine detected that the oil needed changed despite being 4k miles short of next service interval) Subtle change but enough for me to notice and on longer journeys can result in "pins and needles" and nausea. Unfortunately the main Renault garage sevice manager where the car is serviced doesnt think there is a problem following a 5 minute road test and diagnostic engine test. The vibration is immediately apparent to me when starting up, so think he was just humouring me by testing the engine as he could not detect what i feel on starting, and is certainly not feeling "shaken" up afte only a 5 minute journey.
The engine was not "flushed" this time whereas it has been up till now. Yesterday when starting up in -7C i could definately differentiate between the engine noise and the "vibration" noise when de-icing the windows. Any ideas PLEASE!!!! It is a classic case of customer having a problem that the garage doesnt recognise, and so where do i go from here! Throuroughly fed up! Read more
Hi everyone
I hope this makes sense! I am thinking of buying a Hyundai i30 of 2-3 years old. The i30 had a small cosmetic facelift in 2010.... Read more
No you will not notice the difference, but if you want something with a bit more mid range go for the 1.6, or for much more mid range the diesel.
More importantly, it's a decent enough car but the 1.4 I drove was unbearably noisy at anything over about 60mph. But ok around town and A roads and handles ok too....
After pulling away from traffic lights i could not change into any gears. Was informed by the recovery guy it may be a clip that goes on the shaft that may have broke??? Any help would be a blessing and likely costs to repair. Read more
You have to put on some ramps to determine whether it is an external or internal problem.
Holding car on clutch on hill noticed that there appeared to be steam or smoke coming from bonnet hinge and a smell like burning candles. This has happened since, not holding car on clutch, but a lot lesser degree. Anyone have any clues as to what this can be? Insufficient anti-freeze perhaps? Many thanks for thoughts on this subject. Thanks a lot for reply. Definitely won't do that again.
This is a 2010 plate diesel with the 136bhp engine with 40K on the clock.
About a year ago at 24K the clutch and DMF were changed under warranty. I had reported what I thought was slipping and they found oil contamination and excessive play in the DMF. A modified clutch was fitted but I don't know what that really means but they told me the 407 did have a slipping clutch problem that this is supposed to address.... Read more
Check your rev counter, if you think its slipping lift you foot off the throttle and see if the revs suddenly drop, if its going to slip it will do it at max torque, about 2000 rpm with your foot hard down.
Hello.
I have a Vauxhall which fails to start and after obvious checks, I now suspect the Fuel Pump EDU. I have removed the EDU from this vehicle and temporarily fitted it onto another Astra of around the same era. Uses the same EDU and vehicle is ok. This testing vehicle failed to start when I tested the suspect EDU.... Read more
I wonder if you could bake the circuit board at 190 for 10 minutes, like they do with computers.
Just a heads-up.
Not sure about the rules on this forum, but a certain low end supermarket beginning with A and ending in I (with maybe an L and a D in it) are selling a 3 litre Car Wash with carnuba wax for £2.99. Comes in a grey plastic oil like container... Read more
It causes the water or rain to bead up, through a temporary surface tension effect.
The protective qualities of wax were abolished when two pack car paints came in and cellulose paints were banned, about 1990.

Head Gasget.

I wouldn't have thought so unless it slipped off the jack of course, the exhaust system could have been bent which would put it under stress. I once had a stone jammed in the gearbox mounting which effectively short circuited it.
