Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Diesel 03 Reg - Vauxhall Asttra, Corsa, etc. ISUZU 1.7 Diesel EDU - Msaffin

Hello.

I have a Vauxhall which fails to start and after obvious checks, I now suspect the Fuel Pump EDU. I have removed the EDU from this vehicle and temporarily fitted it onto another Astra of around the same era. Uses the same EDU and vehicle is ok. This testing vehicle failed to start when I tested the suspect EDU.

Can anyone tell me if I have done this test correctly, i.e. can EDU's (Original Un-tampered Ones) be swapped from Car to Car and still work ? Or must they be coded to work with your vehicle ?

If they need to be coded, does anyone know how to do this please ?

Thanks In Advance.

Malcolm.

I guess you mean the diesel pump control unit that is bolted to the back of the engine, low down. These are not coded and can be swapped from car to car. There are many specialist repairers for these.hth

These ECU suffer with dry joints caused by the vibration from the engine/pump. I have seen these taken apart and just touched on the dry joints & run fine when re-asembled.

I wonder if you could bake the circuit board at 190 for 10 minutes, like they do with computers.
