Citroen C4 - Smell like burning candles - Montbel2010

Holding car on clutch on hill noticed that there appeared to be steam or smoke coming from bonnet hinge and a smell like burning candles. This has happened since, not holding car on clutch, but a lot lesser degree. Anyone have any clues as to what this can be? Insufficient anti-freeze perhaps? Many thanks for thoughts on this subject.

The smell was probably caused initially by the clutch lining burning as a result of holding it on the clutch - not a good idea in veiw of the cost of replacement. Once this smell has been produced it will hang about for a long time, so it may just be that, unless of course your clutch is now slipping, in which case it will keep on smelling.
