Why are you quoting an Audi advertising slogan in an attempt to criticise VW? "Progress through technology" is not responsible for failure of a pulley designed and made by an outside Tier 1 supplier such as INA, Continental or SKF and this is a technology used by most producers of 4 cylinder diesel engines, not just VAG.
Hi, first post, please be kind :-)
I've very recently bought a 59 plate Nissan Qashqai from Arnold Clark, and I'm very pleased with it so far. However, I need a second opinion on the service history.... Read more
Hi,
I would take this email and your service book to the garage that sent it. I would then ask them to stamp your service book and backdate it. Hopefully then, all of the blank spaces in your service book will be complete.
A message flashed up on my dashboard " ESP/BAS - REFER TO WORKSHOP. I took my vehicle into the garage and mechanic advised me that the switch had gone in the Brake Servo Unit. Apparently, you can't buy the switch, you have to buy the whole unit, which has to be shipped over from Germany. ... Read more

Both cars are a bit wasted in the UK I would thing.
Yet again I am astounded (pleasantly) by my insurers. Firstly, LV actually came in with a lower premium later last year for my motor renewal, so I stayed with them. Now my home insurer has just done the same thing. Checked around to get three quotes as a comparison and my existing provider beat them all hands down, and by a significant amount. I thought that loyalty counted for nothing but they are proving me wrong. At least until next time around. Funny old world ain't it? Cheers all. Concrete. Read more
I'm with LV and had a great quote for my Ford ranger last year, and got a shock this year when it was nearly £60 cheaper again, maybe a benefit of the closing of the male/female differences??
At the begiining of December, had a light front end shunt, which caused repairable damage. Yesterday the Authorised repair centre gave a quote for £2446.08.
As Admiral had agreed to pay up to £2400 for repairs the car has now been written off. They have offered £2200, for the vehicle, having found one for sale in the local area for £3500 and have arranged for a scrap dealer to pick it up. The valuation is well below book value and I thought until we agree a value, the vehicle is my property?... Read more

Cars have indeed been increasing in size over time. When I was conversing with a car-park attendant he told me that the parking spaces had been laid out when the bulk of cars using the area were Morris Minors and Ford Anglias. He has seen mature ladies returning to their car and having to climb in through the tailgate because they couldn't open the doors wide enough.
I was looking at an older Subaru Forester recently and comparing its neat dimensions with the latest model.
