hi i have had a horrid thumping noise coming from the front of my zafira 2002 model at first i thought it was engine i done some tests an it is not i had it up on axel stands today and checked some more things out with the passenger front wheel off i started the engine in neutral and i could see that the passenger side brake disc was turning on tick over i could hear the noise and started to try and identify where it was coming i dont know why but i grabbed the driveshaft to see if i could stop it (the driveshaft) and i did but to be more amazed i had stop the horrid thumping noise to any ideas on thios please guys as i know nothing about this Read more

For future reference it might be worthwhile locating the Caps Lock button on your keyboard...... It's considered as "shouting" if you type everything in capital letters.
Good luck with the number plate - can't quite see it myself but if someone has offered 4 x what you've paid for it then it obviously has a value to someone out there.
Please kindly make comments on these plate, who you think potential buyers maybe and valuation.

I quite often fly to Glasgow and Edinburgh on business but my wife and children (17 and 13) have never been to Scotland. As a possible summer holiday (last 2 weeks of August) I was thinking of either flying up to Glasgow / Edinburgh (from Bristol) and hiring a car or, alternatively, driving from home and spending a week to 10 days traveling around and seeing the sights.
Can anyone recommend any places we should put on our list? We would like to do a mix of city break and "sight seeing" type activities - taking in the highlands and other places of interest.... Read more
An update.
We took your advice and spent a really enjoyable week during August in a 'luxury' log cabin on the shores of Loch Tay. It wasn't exactly luxury but the place was spotlessly clean and had everything we wanted so no complaints....

I am about to buy a second hand 308. It is 2010 model and the mileage is about 40K. I tested the car for couple of minutes and it drives quite smooth. I was wondering if there is any way of testing the health of the engine? Some people say that place one hand on top of the oil filler and increase the rpm. If you feel any blow on your hand it's bad, if not it's good.Do you agree with this? What else can I check to test the engine?
I am a bit suspicious about the engine because I realized that there is no antifreeze in the expansion tank. Since the car is delivered with antifreeze when it was brand new and I don't give any chance to the owner to change the coolant within 3 years with a coolant without antifreeze for no reason, I am suspecting of possible damage on the car. Do you agree with me? Can you comment on this? Read more
It could as simple as a leaky hose or radiator. I'd have a look for telltale crusty remnants of coolant around the cooling system.
It's like checking the dipstick. If you pulled the dipstick out and there was no oil on it, you'd walk away. The vender will kick himself, buy some oil, and the next viewer will probably buy the car. If the dipstick has fresh amber oil up to the max mark, you don't know that you're not that next person....

I already have a Skoda Octavia and Superb and they have both been great cars (comfortable, economical and reliable). The Superb (MK I & II) is VERY roomy - for four - but I still think there will not be enough room for three (inc car seats etc...) across the back seats. There is also a wide central tunnel in the floor which can make it uncomfortable in the back middle seat.
I can't fully comment on the Passat but I beleive there will be similar issues as both cars are related....
