Has anybody ever had this problem? Garage says a new GEM required at £250 plus fitting. Switch is not the problem but screen stays on even though switch is off. Could it be a relay rather than the GEM? Read more
I currently own a Vauxhall Corsa D, Design, 09 plate. Since the onset of the cold weather I have been experiencing issues with firstly condensation forming on all of the windows on the inside of the vehicle and secondly the windows constantly steaming up. It has got to the point where the windows will not demist even with the fans on full speed and obviously directed at the windscreen. I have already tried/checked the following:... Read more
I have just been quoted £18684 for a new Toyota Auris Icon 1.6 M/T which include total loss protection.Bearing in mind the ONR price is £17495 is paying £1189 for this worth it?
Also as I will be paying cash the salesman quotes no discount, Can I but a new one of these cars outside a main dealership and still get the toyota warranty ? If so where would be the best place to buy ? Read more
The Honda dealer I bought my Jazz from included GAP, Paint and accident damage in their quote.. It's anormal marketing ploy to offset the low margins on new cars.

Would expect the rear washer is pretty powerful, and in the cold, if there is a little frozen water it can forceably 'pop' out the piping, I know this happens with a few 'premium' cars. The best tip is to not use the washers unless you know they are not frozen...
Anyway, I found this thread on another site, might be helpful:...
I have a 2002 Ford Fiesta Courier van 1.8 turbo diesel endura engine. A week ago I parked in my drive after using it all day when it was running fine. Next morning when I tried to start it , it just turned over and would not fire. Glow plug light on the dash was flashing. I connected a tet bulb to glow plugs to check relay worked OK. Next checked glow plugs and all four were not working (extremely strange that all four were not working) Replaced all four and the engine started first time and glow plug light stopped flashing. I left the van running for 30 minutes then turned it off. The following morning would not start and glow plug light flashing. The symptons are the engimne fires but wont run on and the power steering electric motor by the radator runs on for about 30 seconds. Left van in disgust until two days later when I tried to start it again. It started first time with no flashing glow plug light. I used it all day with no trouble. When I tried to start the next day it wouldnt. Same symptoms. Took the EGR valve off to check was opening OK and cleaned.

A fault code scan of the convenience system should show hat is wrong. It is a relatively simple system mainly consisting of a control box and four door lock units which are controlled through the window regulator motor control units via CAN BUS. Most problems are extremely easy to diagnose with a good diagnostic system such as VCDS.
Battery Leakage seems to be an ongoing problem with this model - ours is a 55 plate Tdi.
Having scanned through a number of internet discussions, I've come to the conclusion that for someone with very little in the way of a technical brain, the safest option is to invest in a spare battery and keep it in the boot (a tip from an internet sufferer). Is there anything consistent coming through on this one - the blame seems to fall in equal measures on bluetooth, internal light, glove box light, boot light, radio - a new battery was installed a couple of years ago but at the first sign of cold weather - bingo - a dead car. Love the rest of the car but being a couple of pensioners, we do need it to be reliable. Read more
Had a similar problem with my 58 plate VRS - seems there may be a fault on the wiring loom to the radiator fans causing the fan to continue running whilst the car is turned off and down to temperature - there is a service bulletin on this and replacement loom. Seemed to be particularly bad in wet weather. HTH
Can anyone tell me what radio model is installed in a Meriva Energy 16V first registered 17/01/2007 as I did not get any handbooks when I bought it. Read more
Hi,
The standard radio should be a CD30 unless you have a higher specification model....

recently bought a used car from a trader. pointed out a problem during test drive, a known common fault with engine (sticky thermostat). requested the problem was looked into in addition to new tyres and replacement of damaged trim. i leave deposit and leave to await delivery of vehicle at later date. later, trader claims car has been sorted and is ready to pick up so i go and pay and collect. temperature problem still evident on way home so i request a repair either under SoGA or warranty.trader claims they replaced temp sensor b4 delivery and now uneconomical to repair. car not looked at after sale. instead trader offer full refund. i want the car as it is v good for its age and price and i do not want to find another so i decline and demand repair. have threatened court action to claim cost of repair at 3rd party if trader unwilling, which they are.

Nothing like experience is there! It would take quite a lot at stake to make me start proceedings so the key is to try to agree beforehand, I believe.

Didn't read it properly! - "Screen stays on when switch is off".
On a car with simple, understandable electrics, that would indicate a sticking relay, but modern cars aren't simple, which is why they cost so much more than they need to! If the screen stays off after the ignition key is switched off and back on again, that rules out the relay, because the relay is dropping off when the ignition is switched off, and until the ignition is switched off, a condition from the ridiculously over-complex electronics is keeping it energised.
