When I was at the Polytecchnic in the 70's one of our lecturers was a Pole who came to England at the start of WW2. Originally he settled in the North East using his particular skills thus picked up the local acent which was still there almost 40 years later. Even the Geordies on our course struggled.

Sounds like it could be a whole number of things unfortunately, as said above definitely get the brake pedal thing looked at first.

Probably sensor/fuel pressure related. Best thing to do would be get it on a diagnostics machine if possible.

Convincing a populace to switch fuel is not an easy job. It was confusing enough here when 4 star was phased out and it's taken decades for the ordinary motorist to trust diesel - though Governmental assault on their wallets have no doubt sped up their conversion.

California loves the Prius for many reasons but one of them is they trust it because they put the same fuel in it they do with anything else.

There will be a hybrid Rangey this year, would make sense to have one of those when they are available.

New shoes fitted and bedded in and there seems to be no automatic or manual adjustment to the shoes .. the handbrake has excessive travel so does the handbrake act as the adjuster for the shoes as well?

To add to the above good posts, before fitting new brake shoes it pays to slacken the cable right off and make sure its lubricated and free.

In many cases i've intially adjusted up the shoes manually by 'cheating' the adjuster, then driven for some time to bed the brakes fully in....

I've got a Honda FRV 2.0 petrol with the 6-speed manual gearbox. Yesterday my other half suddenly found she had trouble selecting some gears. Gears 1, 3 & 5 would keep popping out and going into neutral, but gears 2, 4 & 6 were fine. I had a quick drive down the road and certainly 1st gear was both difficult to get into and didn't want to stay engaged. I'd driven the car the previous day and it was absolutely fine; so it a sudden change and not a gradual degredation.

I can't seem to find anything on the internet reporting problems with FRV (or CRV) manual gearboxes, so I wonder if anyone else has any ideas? The car has done about 75k miles and is 6 years old.... Read more

I frequently remove stones from my runflat tyre treads to prevent rapid wear and possible punctures. My local tyre specialist is not interested in offering a flint removal service but I feel that tyres are often the most neglected part of a vehicle. Am I being unduly concerned? Read more

I now look through this site and others while she gets ready, when she says "I'm ready" I get ready and then still have to sit in the car for five minutes waiting!!

After I have removed the flints, I then go down the garden to teh greenhouse in retaliation.. Works a treat! :-)

went in for service - garage changed tyres from front to back otherwise nothing else. After picking it up noticed loud whirring/washing machine noise above 15mph. Got louder and took it back - had 2 x wheel bearing fixed (400quid). Picked it up and noise quiter but still there above 20 mph and getting louder. Any ideas? take it back to garage?
