try spraying easy start into the air flow by removing the universal clip and sliding the air feed ti expose the air flow meter. have someone trun the engine over whilst u carefully spray a continuous flow into the opening. if the engine start and runs as u manyally open the throttle being careful not to over do it then the fuel pump in the fuel tank needs replacing. you will have to empty the petrol out (for safety) then raise the car and release the pump from the passenger side. the fuel pump can be accessed for the drivers side and will be located in the middle of the vehicle. Unless the cruiser is in the air you will have to climb under into the space to carry out the fix so make sure the vehicle is secure and safe and properly supported before you attempt to repair this fix.

Hi,

Just after some advice. About 6 weeks ago, my car broke down and I was consequently rescued by the AA who diagnosed a conrod through the engine block. This was confirmed by my local garage who were going to fit a replacement (salvaged) engine for around £2K. They've had trouble finding a suitable engine (engine code BXE), so I started to hunt too. On my hunting, I discovered that I'm not alone in having conrod go through the engine block on this type of engine code, with similar mileage and plate (mine is 08 plate, approx 75K on the clock). There appears to be a manufacturing defect with the conrod - it has snapped. I've contacted SEAT and they've been good at getting the car in to be tested and have indicated that they'd look at a goodwill payment in the event of a defect.... Read more

I have had the same problem at 92000 miles on my ’57 plate VWTouran and the vehicle also has fullservice history with VW dealerships. I’vealso had VW denying that there is a problem (great customer service eh?!).

I have just sent the defect report form off to Vosa and theysay they are aware of this issue and are currently investigating. So, to reiterate other forum members pleas,if you have had a conrod failure on a BXE engine on VAG cars please pleaseplease let VOSA know ASAP.

I am currently taking this matter through the county courtto try and recoup my costs for another engine, so if you are willing to confirmon email (rather than through the forum) that this has happened to your VAG vehicle(VW, Seat, Audi, Skoda) too, please could you email me on conrodcon@yahoo.co.uk by the end of April? To submit my evidence in court, I need specificpeople’s names / addresses / vehicle details (including VIN number and enginenumber) – as I have been told this would be better evidence than that supplied ona forum.

If you can email me with the following details that would begreat:
·Your initial and surname
·Address
·Vehicle details
·VIN number (These can be found on your V5C document)
·Engine number (These can be found on your V5C document)
·Brief description of your conrod failure
·Any other information you think of use.

If you email me with this information, I will keep youinformed of my case and provide you with any additional information I can tosupport you.
Some forum members have said that VW has paid for work ontheir vehicle for conrod failure – again, please can you email me on conrodcon@yahoo.co.uk if this has happened to you so I can use assupporting evidence within my court case?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi

I have a diesel AWD Kuga (2010). After driving for several miles a high-pitched noise can be heard coming from the rear / driver's side. It stops when the brakes are applied, even slightly, so I assume that it is associated with the brakes. The local Ford dealership has been unable to identify the cause, possibly because their test drive was too short. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or can suggest a cause and solution? Many thanks - that's very helpful and we'll be speaking to the garage. It's always easier if you can tell them what the solutionis, rather than the problem!

The battery in my wife's Zafira is playing up.

Once the car is stopped and left alone, with nothing on, there seems to be no problem, car starts fine every time. But if (as I have done twice now) put the radio on for 30 mins max whilst washing / cleaning etc, when you come to start the car again, the battery seems more or less dead. The central locking, ignition lights, indicators etc may or may light, starter motor clicks and will not turn. Jump start works every time and give it a 10-15 minute drive, battery is as good as new (providing you do not do any of the above!).... Read more

I presume its a Sealed Battery rather than one you can top up with De-ironised water?

Vauxhall have fitted fully sealed batteries as OE since the '80s. They're normally long-lived, I've had them up to 15 years old - but the odd one does fail early.

Hi

Just bought an 07 Reg Ford KA Studio with an 8v 1.3 Duratec engine, 55k miles, full dealer service history and one company owner. We bought it to replace our 52 Reg KA (Endura) which had got to an age and milage where we saw it as a liability so decided to quit while we were winning!... Read more

Hello, did you solve this problem as i have exactly the same problem! I have removed the belt and run the car and the noise is the same so i concluded it was something camshaft related?

South Woodham Ferrers and or Chelmsford county council (I have yet to determine who) have recently resurfaced a number of roads via the top dressing method.

All the roads create a disturbance, which you can feel as you drive, but of particulr concern to me is the increased noise generated in my residential environment by the resurfacing of a road 30m from where I live.... Read more

In my suburb of Leeds they have recently done the main road through with the crappy chipping stuff. Yet they have done a local "crescent" in one of the estates (it's just a half moon shaped road that goes from the main road and comes back onto the main road 50 yards later) with the full treatment. Top off, nice smooth tarmac, the works. What's that all about for a road that maybe 50 people a day travel on?

No doubt there's a councillor who lives - by coincidence - in the same road...

I have a 2006 Passat (current shape) and very little air gets through the heating/conditioning system. The inlet in the scuttle is clear. The divert fresh/re-circ operates correctly. I've taken out the fan and it's OK (even tried a new one with the same result). The divert control - feet, face/screen etc seems to work OK. I get warm air with the heater on and cold with the a/c on - just no flow. I cannot find any obvious blockage or leakage. Any ideas? Chris. Read more

You have 9 flap control motors but I would first check/change the pollen filters There are two, both fitted through the same removeable cover in the passenger foot well. Note the filters are marked for the direction of air flow. Regards Peter

My daughter purchased a VW Polo from a second hand dealer with the garage's 3 month warranty. She has had several minor problems which the garage to it's credit have addressed. However, it has caused her and me to be suspicious about what might else go wrong now the warranty has finished. She is still within the 6 month sale of goods act period and another problem has occurred with the clutch. Sometime she is unable to get the car into gear, ot the clutch just drops to the floor. It is intermittent and she has had the clutch fluid removed, by another garage, to rid it of air but it appears to be happening again. Could there be small holes in the clutch pipe allowing air to get back in to the system or could the slave cylinder be at fault causing the clutch pedal to suddenly drop. She has only been driving for a month so is rather concerned to say the least. Any ideas? Read more

On the slave cylinder it has a plunger at the end with a rubber dust cover open this if it's wet with fluid inside it that's ya problem replace slave cylinder other than that check for wetness around master cylinder and clutch pipes go from there.
