I have a 2004 vectra which keeps cutting out when it's warm. I can drive 50-60 miles without any trouble but if I have to stop it want start again until it cools down. It's been in and out of the garage they can't find any fault. They have changed the fuel regulator sensor (I think that was what it was called) but they hasn't cured it. Yesterday I had the AA to it as I broke down on the way home and he suggested it could be the crank shaft sensor. It's due to go back to the garage tomorrow to have this looked at but it's costing a fortune and nothing is finding the fault. Any ideas anyone ? Read more

Headlights on my 08 c3 seem to be set for l/h drive, ie to right of center, has anybody else come across or noticed this, or any info on adjusting lights in horizontal plane only. Read more

To check for pattern drive up to a garage door or similar when dark, the dipped beam cut off should be level for about third to half the spread and then taper upwards from the left side of each beam.

If the beams taper upwards to the right plane then something is amiss....

I am planning to put winter tyres on my car towards the middle/end of October and would just appreciate some advice as to what speed rating I can use for them to make sure I am not falling foul of insurance/law. I plan to order them this week.

My car's regular tyres are 205/50/17 W (Reinforced) and I 'think last year (on a different car so I can't remember for sure) I was able to reduce the speed rating from a then V to an H.... Read more

Kumho are good vauie and have done very well on my old Z3 - although these aren't winter tyres.

I think you meant that your insurance company was uninterested....

France is reducing the price of fuel by around 10¢ per litre, e.g. statement by Total w.e.f. 29th August 2012.

As for your choice of car, go in the more comfortable, which in my experience will be the Citroën. The Citroën will also be better received in France if you break down - the mechanics will be interested in the RHD version.

hi i had a replacement engine put in my vehicle and its now doing around 15 mpg i took the vehicle back to the local garage and they put my old injectors in it. they had engine had already used my old fuel pump put on it so they said it would be fine now as it would all be the same set up but now when the car is ticking over the car seems to shake the rev counter is showing correct idle limit and its still doing about 15 mpg and seems sluggish still.help Read more

With 15 mpg I would expect to see a lot of black smoke from the exhaust. The pump timing could be retarded, that would make it difficult to start, quieter then usual and probably make it get hot, if it exhibits these symptoms check the cambelt.

I am going to change the engine on my van, I have changed engines several times but wondered if anyone had tips for this one. I changed one in a Bedford Midi years ago and got it out through the drivers door. I know the easiest way is to release it then raise the van on a lift but I dont have a lift!

Is it possible to get this engine out from above?... Read more
