Ford Kuga - Noise Issue - DavidF

Hi

I have a diesel AWD Kuga (2010). After driving for several miles a high-pitched noise can be heard coming from the rear / driver's side. It stops when the brakes are applied, even slightly, so I assume that it is associated with the brakes. The local Ford dealership has been unable to identify the cause, possibly because their test drive was too short. Has anyone else experienced this problem, or can suggest a cause and solution?

Many cars these days have "acoustic brake pad wear indicators" which sound like a tuning fork when the pads need replacing - your Kuga may be too young to have worn the brakes down - unless - the pads at the corner in question have been sticking.

If this is what's happening you'll need to cure the sticking pads first before fitting new ones.

Many thanks - that's very helpful and we'll be speaking to the garage. It's always easier if you can tell them what the solutionis, rather than the problem!
