If after replacing the spark plug, your still getting this code - Open up your camshaft and tighten every last bolt before it snaps. They come loose over time, its a manufacturing fault, eventually snapping your camshaft. Problem solved. Read more

Moved to Technical. Thanks for the tip: this fault has been aired several times on here, but there may be people suffering from a Corsa (particularly 2005 models) who aren't aware of it. There may be some whose camshafts snapped without receiving this warning.

My 106 had a bump, sat for while whilst I fixed it and now it wont start, all i could here was the starter clicking, so I hit that to see if it was stuck, not the clikcing stopped and but i cant here the fuel pump priming up. I have pressed the big red reset button lots but to no avail. Any ideas please? Read more

its not in good condition, no, but will power the lights, but the engine wont even turn over, not even a hint of it.

That means very little, the lights may well work, but when you hit the battery with starter motor current the voltage just collapses, I,d say this is the problem

In my weekly update from Which?, they highlight the new tyre energy labelling system being introduced later this year. From November, all new car tyres will need to display a new Energy label (similar to the labelling used for domestic appliances) giving information on rolling resistance, wet grip and noise. Three symbols will be on the new labels:-

1) A symbol with the tyre and fuel pump - a measurement of the tyre's rolling resistance carried out on a calibrated test rig. The lower the rolling resistance the better the fuel economy.... Read more

Treadwear rating is only applicable on that manufacturer's tyres, too. My Uniroyals are 280 treadwear, as are my Hankooks. The Uniroyals wear much quicker than the Hankooks.

The airbag llight in my Focus has been on steady for a while. The light comes on with the ignition, off briefly, then on solid. Can anyone advise what that indicates. I had a quick look around today and the feed and ground are fine to the control module. Also checked continuity of the clockspring and connections to all the system components and can't see any obvious problems. Is there a code reader that will read airbag faults?

80% of airbag faults are the cable to the pretensioner under the seats. Big-footed rear passengers kick the connections, giving the error.

yeh great price it from a local garage called t&c auto repairs but didnt replace water pump as i first stated as it was fairly new i thought at first they did but my mistake,i sort of know the mechanic to a friend of my uncles he did say he done it as cheap as possible and hardly made much he said would of cost around £800 + from any other place so it helped that i knew him he did do me a big favour.the gasket origianly went at 60000 miles,i had the new steel gasket belt kit and bolts coolant water pump done then i had it booked in to get the belts changed next month cause it had 115000 on the clock and shud replace every 60000 but unfortuanatly for me it went just before was due to get changed so my advise would do the change at 50000 to be on the safe side

I'd go for a Mk3 Mondeo as well, preferably in Ghia spec. Lots of car for the money, drives better than everything else barring the Mazda 6 which is probably just as good, bombproof petrol engines, well screwed together car and so many of them out there that its easy to find a bargain.

Hello all.

First post and new to the HJ forums, though I have been using the site for a number of years for advice on buying cars. I am a complete idiot when it comes to mechanics and what is worth what, though I learn quickly when I need to!... Read more

On a related point, I do use a dealer for servicing and find them very good and quite reasonable and I have built up a level of trust over 5 years. However they do pull some 'funny' tricks. I always top my screenwash reservoir to the brim before taking the car in for service. Every time the invoice has a £5 charge for screenwash. I always get them to remove this item before payment. The first time I had a bit of resistance so I produced a dated photograph of the full reservoir, so.now they remove it straightaway. When I asked why they do it at all they say 'the computer puts it on automatically'. Thousands of cars getting a main dealer service weekly is a lot of money for nowt. Cheers Concrete

My suspension ( all four corners ) is making some strong creaking noises especially when starting off from cold. Seems to improve as the car warms up. Do the shock absorbers contain oil or fluid that becomes thinner as the warmth increases, and therefore the creaking eases up? What could the problem be please? Read more

Many thanks for your replies - will get the car looked at. Took the car out today and no noise at all! Wierd.

so...an update on my first post of 2 years ago....still havent been paid out on my claim, lambo was stolen, police not happy with the provenance of the car, even though it was bought from a big london dealership that specialises in exotica, the police believe that the car is cloned but havent provided any further details, though have passed all this info to the insurance company, the insurance company have gone quiet, they dont reply to my calls nor my letters and emails. ive followed the procedures layed down by the FOS,sent formal complaint letter, waited 60 days for reply etc etc... and it is now with the FOS for consideration. At this early stage the FOS have requested the details of the claim from the insurance, who have chosen to not reply. The FOS have now told the insurance to send them the claim and their notes ( this incurs a £500 fee by the insurance co)....... Read more

I have heard of similar cases where the insured was a business, the insurance company were clearly hoping that the financial hardship their delay was causing would cause the business to fold and thus remove their need to pay out.
