Not bad. That steel gasket is worthwhile and would have been required at some point anyway on a VVC "K" series. I've seen places charging more than that, even without the valves and water pump. They often require a head skim when the inevitable gasket failure occurs, so that's probably a preemptive action to ensure that the new gasket lasts as long as possible.

Sounds like you took it somewhere that knows what they're doing. Who was it?

yeh great price it from a local garage called t&c auto repairs but didnt replace water pump as i first stated as it was fairly new i thought at first they did but my mistake,i sort of know the mechanic to a friend of my uncles he did say he done it as cheap as possible and hardly made much he said would of cost around £800 + from any other place so it helped that i knew him he did do me a big favour.the gasket origianly went at 60000 miles,i had the new steel gasket belt kit and bolts coolant water pump done then i had it booked in to get the belts changed next month cause it had 115000 on the clock and shud replace every 60000 but unfortuanatly for me it went just before was due to get changed so my advise would do the change at 50000 to be on the safe side
