Can any one help me? thier is a rattling coming from the front end, at first I thought it could be the drop links so these were replaced. Then I thought it could be the strut top bearings so I replaced the near side but the off side was ok, The rattle is more of a jingling noise as if some thing is loose around the the top of the strut area. Has any one came across this before? Read more

I currently own a 1.4 diesel Fiesta, 76,000 on clock. I do 36,000/yr, about 95% of which is motorway. The EGR has already been replaced once (around 40k) and there are signs of trouble ahead, again due to dirt. Garages tell me this engine is well known for dirt and I've been told to budget for high maintenance costs from now on.

I want to replace it for a lower mileage car with very good fuel economy (I currently get >50mpg on the motorway), reliable engine with low maintenance costs. Petrol or diesel, doesn't matter, but the fuel economy is important.... Read more

Thanks for the feedback - much appreciated. I agree the Festa isn't much of a powerhouse and not the most comfortable ride for this mileage - I've put up with it for 2 years so time to change! Low mileage and low budget suits just fine for a new car! My budget is probably £5-7k - I'll keep my eye out for a focus or Peugoet HDi.

One of the headlamp bulbs on my Golf Plus keeps constantly indicating as blow. It's always the same side and the warning light comes on usually during the day when the lights aren't even on. Occasionally, it can be reset by unplugging and plugging the bulb back in but on other occasions, it needs a new bulb. It keeps blowing even though I never switch the lights on between failures! Does anyone know why when I press the key fob and lock the car and set the alarm after about 10 seconds the hazard lights start to flash really quickly and if you try and turn off the alarm it actually goes off. Also sometimes after the alarm is set I come back and see that it has been activated as the hazard lights are flashing.

Appreciate any help as it's driving me menta. Thanks Read more

Anyone know how to adjust these jets?

I used to adjust them in the old model by simply inserting a needle, then moving the jets.

But in the K12, its difficult to get to the jets.... Read more

it comes up with anti polution fault and eml
it will start up but soon as you put your foot down it will die and not restart.
took it to a garage and they put it on a diagnostic machine which gave me back two fuel pressure faults.
they have changed the fuel filters, flushed the lines, changed in tank pump, changed two injectors that were leaking and still it is doing the same thing.
do you have any ideas on what this could be?

Can anyone help me- my starter motor has burnt out every year for the last four years. This always happens when I am driving- never when I go to start it in the morning. The first two times Vauxhall replaced the iginition switch as well, but that didn't seem to improve matters. The key itself has always worked fine. Last time it happened my mechanic replaced the starter motor with a Bosch part, but a year later it has happened again. Read more

check starter motor ring gear, may be burred causing starter motor to stick in and be driven by engine thus burning the motor out

In brief the following is the history,

·
The car always suffered from a jerk/hesitation when shifting up gears, this was noticeable from the 2nd week of January whereby we were told to continue driving unless any warning lights were to show up.

·
In the second week of February a further, possibly related, problem became apparent when the vehicle refused to accelerate in the fast lane on the motorway, even after fully depressing and releasing before depressing the accelerator again. You can only imagine how panicked I left being stranded in the fast lane unable to go above 60mph, I limped the car to hard shoulder and switched off and then on before continuing the rest of the journey in the slow lane.

·
A few days later on the 20 th of February the problem became major where the gear changes became extremely violent, such they caused the car to be thrown back and forth, luckily I wasn’t far from home on local drive when this happened. The warning light came on and the car broke down completely. It had to be recovered the following day, the mileage was around 1,300. Huddersfield Mercedes confirmed the seriousness of the fault and had to await instructions to repair from Mercedes Head Office. Several weeks passed by while they attempted different fixes, which didn’t make any difference. The car was finally returned early April, still with intermittent gearbox issues but none serious enough to warrant a workshop recovery.

·
On 21 st May the car broke down again where there was loss of power and thumping sounds coming from the rear, again breakdown were called out and attempts to repair were not successful, the car was recovered back to the dealer on Monday 23th May, they found various faults with the car and are now awaiting instruction to repair. The mileage was around 3,000. The car has been in the workshop ever since.

I have written to mbuk and mbfs outlining the problems and insisting the car is rejected but they wont have it, the gentleman that has been speaking to me from MBUK isnt particularly focused on listening to me and now insist I pursue them using other means. ... Read more
