I plan to sell my mk1 focus saloon in the next few weeks and I would like to know from those who have experience of selling cars through different mediums, which they think is best, that is, sells a car with the least hassle and for the highest price (If there is any difference).
I was thinking either, eBay, autotrader, pistonheads or a local paper.
I have used eBay before but from my experience you get 30 time wasters for every 1 genuine potential buyer. Are the others any different?
Thanks in advance. T Read more

Long story short.
Had leaking injector seals and oil smells in the car. Pug dealer replaced the seals and the car has never did run very well afterwards. I thought low power and sluggish....... but it was the wifes car and she thought it was alright but I think she just got used to it.....................here we are just over a year later oil seals gone again as well running rough as hell..... or so I thought....... I have the opposite problem with my hanbrake cable that people have written about on the forum. I have replaced the two rear calipers no problem, when i come to reconnect the handbrake cable it appears too short. is there some sort of automatic tensioner that reacted to me releasing the cables to remove the old calipers. if so, how I do release the cable to fit....... Thanks Read more
This car has probably got the original non modified handbrake lever where the 2 cables are spring loaded from a cross bar at the front. You need to pull the cables back ,from caliper end, to overcome the spring load.Use heavy duty pliers. You may find it easier to remove the yoke that attaches to the caliper handbrake mechanism(the one with the countersunk hex bolt)to enable the cable nipple to engage more easily. Also give the lever on the caliper some manoevering to ease assembly.Bit of a fiddle,I have just done mine,1 o/s caliper and 2 cables. The handbrake is still rubbish.Later cars have a modified system.hth

Hi Lucy, hope you can help.
I had an accident in April last year which resulted in major damage to my car. My insurance company (LV) arranged a car through Broker Assistance, which I have since found out was a credit hire vehicle costing nearly £5k for 33 days hire.... Read more
Thanks very much for the response, Lucy. You are so correct in using the word BONKERS! to describe this, doubtless, expensive action. With regard to "impecuniousness", I will concede that I certainly could have rented a car myself. However, the offer of a "loan" car appeared entirely reasonable to me at the time. Also, I had no knowledge of this whole credit hire issue, which you guys have very usefully highlighted here.
Perhaps I ought to allow that, in the absence of impartial witnesses, maybe it's simply that the other party's insurers believe that there is some small doubt about liability. In which case, clearly mine feel they have a good case and must therefore respond....

Hi, could anyone tell me roughly how much it would cost and how long it would take to replace a steering angle sensor on a VW Golf 2007? Thanks Read more
With all the recent hacking revelations in the press, I wondered how these journos managed to listen in to voice mails.
Did they need the number of the phone in question or did they use a device to" lock" on to that particular users phone? anyone know for sure. Read more
Its common knowledge that mobiles are unsecured lines anyway.
So how DO they listen in. And how do they access voice mail boxes?
