Peugeot 307 110 HDI 54 plate/88K miles - Oil in the Turbo - Rocketman

Long story short.

Had leaking injector seals and oil smells in the car. Pug dealer replaced the seals and the car has never did run very well afterwards. I thought low power and sluggish....... but it was the wifes car and she thought it was alright but I think she just got used to it.....................here we are just over a year later oil seals gone again as well running rough as hell..... or so I thought....

Had the car in to an Independant Pug/Diesel specialist today. Fault this time was not the seals but the rocker cover. The mechanic reckons that the rocker cover was removed and as it was being replaced the gasket got twisted. There were also signs on the cover where some one has struggled to refit it.

Q1 Do you have to remove the rocker cover to replace the oil seals?

Also, whilst servicing the car the mechanic said he found oil in the turbo. He says it's not uncommon.

The guy says keep an eye on the oil level and check it weekly. If oil consumption starts to rise sharply the seals on the turbo are failing badly and it's time to either get and new turbo or get rid of the car. That should not be difficult. I religiously check the cars at the weekend and have never had to top the oil up on her 307.. it just does not seem to burn any noticeable amount between service and she's had it since it has 12k on the clock.

Read a thread on here which said just about the same regarding the turbo.

Q2. IS the turbo (seals) likely to fail?? Some opinions/suggestions welcome.

Q3. What caused it to run so rough?? The oil in the turbo or the oil leak??

The car is running like a dream again. :-) It's been a long time since it ran so well. Very happy.
