Is it dangerous if a flat battery means you can't get in or out of the car?
My Hyundai Kona Electric 12v battery failed after 18 months, leaving the car inaccessible, as all the doors were locked and the "smart key" would not work. The AA fitted a new battery, but isn't this dangerous, not being able to get in/out of the car?

Your key fob should be equipped with a physical key for use in emergencies such as this, which you can access by pressing the small release button on the back of the fob and pulling out the key. If the 12v battery were to fail when you were inside the car the door handles operate mechanically rather than electronically.
