Hi,
Just bought a second hand Golf 2005 - It drove fine for 2 days but then one morning after a half mile journey it just stalled. After a few tries i managed to start it again - however it kept stalling all the way - in order to keep it going had to drive it in second and keep revs high. Then later that evening it drove fine. Electrician checked it on computer which brought up a camshaft sensor fault. Camshaft Sensor changed - car again drove fine for two days but again gave problems. Electrician hooked it up to computer which showed a crankshaft sensor fault. Crankshaft Sensor changed - cardrove fine for 3 days but again same problem with intermittent stalling.... Read more
I probably already know the answer but having just spent money on this car I'm reluctant to fork out again, it's starting to become a bit of a habbit.
It's just been in the garage for new bottom pulley and some work on the brakes.... Read more
I tried trickle charging overnight. Got one start out of it then flat again - voltage had dropped to 10.4V. New battery ordered and fitted this morning - back to work this afternoon.
I know there are others but ordered from these at 3pm - delivered next day at 9am :-)...
Can you put fog lights on this car?and do you have to put a switch or is it already there?
Thanks... Read more
Front fogs can be fitted to this car but it is not easy. There is no wiring for them and the master light switch will need to be replaced.Tbh it is hardly worth the effort.hth
Not sure if anyone can help but i have a F reg '89 Nova. Recently had a radiator hose burst and looked like head gasket was blown too. Just had fitted new head gasket, thermostat, temp sender and water pump and hose, radiator and other hoses checked and ok. Now when car is started, temp gauge starts to rise straight away and gets to 3/4 mark within a minute or two, obviously engine can't be that hot that quickly so wondered if anyone had any ideas as to why its happening, thanks. So, even if the engine's stone cold, and you simply switch the ignition on, the temp guage goes up ?
Or do you mean it goes up after a very short run time. If so, have you check for an airlock in the cooling system ?.....ebt
Thinking about getting a C max 2.0 automatic about 07 reg. Any issues I should know about? Thanks. Read more
Thank you all for your input.

I don't think anything will happen but if it does come back to me.
Hi
Our car has been snapped doing 66mph on the M62 and I've been sent a notice of intended prosecution as registered keeper. Neither my wife or I are 100% certain who was driving and it's not clear from the three photos available on the police website.
The thing is, obviously 66mph on an m-way is not speeding so I must assume I was passing through a roadworks zone because the prosecution note says 'for exceeding 50mph on a motorway'. Neither my wife or I are given to exceeding the speed limit by 16mph as a rule so it's all very odd.
As I say, we have to assume it was roadworks but is it our job to have to assume this given that one of us will be fined and have points on our licence? If one of us is to be prosecuted, are we not within our rights to expect an 100% accurate description of the circumstances of the speeding before we hold our hands up?
There is NO mention of roadworks on any of the documentation I have been sent and it's not obvious in any of the pictures either. Given I know that speeding tickets on non-motorway thoroughfares have to be 100% accurate, couldn't I simply and cheekily respond by saying 'Exceeding 50mph on a motorway' is not illegal?!
And speaking of accuracy ... the prosecution notice says the car was caught between j23 and j24 eastbound but, although the calibration certificate also says the camera is located eastbound, it also clearly states the location is between j24 and j23 which that way round would be on the westbound carriageway. If the calibration certificate can't get such a basic piece of location information right how can I be expected to trust the rest of the incomprehensible data on it?!
Thoughts on any/all of the above would be appreciated. Read more
Not naming the driver is dangerous as it means they can bring forward a "failure to identify" charge under S172 of the Road Traffic Act which can mean six points, However if you genuinely do not know who was driving the cases can be defended and we win around 90% of those we take. I would need to have a colleague speak to you to assess your prospects for success. Please supply a telephone number. There is no charge for the call.
On the issue of the accuracy of the ticket the police can amend the evidence right up to the time of hearing if it is incorrect so if they can show you were speeding in a roadworks then getting the direction of travel seemingly wrong will not afford you a loophole as they will correct it before trial.

thank you so much for you post it very informative

What engine is it?
You mentioned it was faulty in the morning but OK in the evening. This sounds moisture related (engine warmth dries out electrics during the day - damp at night)....
