I've just bought a clio which has light silver colour seatbelts. The driver's belt is filthy dirty, especially for a 54 reg car. I wonder if all belts look like this but when they're black you don't notice the muck?
Anyway I'm after some advice please on what to clean the belt with - I don't want to accidentally try a cleaning product which may damage the webbing.... Read more
morning - someone i work with has epileptic and diabetic fits, should the dvla be informed?? i thought you had to be "fit" free for a certain amount of time before you could drive again?? my big concern is if he fits while in control of his car he or someone else could be injured or killed. can anyone tell me if there is anyway to inform the dvla or find out what the law is on this?
thanks... Read more
Hello according to justasking the doctor knows about the chaps problem but haven't informed DVLA.
"i have read this and i thought that both he and the doc should inform dvla - but neither of them have - is there any way for me to inform them??"...
It occasionally will not change up automatically into top gear and has to be done manually - is this a common fault? Read more
top is normally just a lock up clutch and is controlled by speed. I trust the speedo and ABs are all functioning correctly as this is where some of the signals come from.
It would be advisable to find a indy merc specialist who has good diag kit such as winstar, where they can delve into the depths of diagnostics and live data with ease,as long as they understand what they are doing.

I've got a 2l Mazda 6 hatchback with 49k miles on the clock and the exhaust has been rattling recently.
The exhaust on the 2l models splits into two just before the rear silencers and the 'Y' piece has a bracket welded onto it that helps to support the exhaust at this point - it is this bracket that has come away from the pipe and is causing the rattle.... Read more
A good welder will make you a new bracket and fit it.
Hi, noticed corsa was loosing coolant the other day, checked it over found coolant running down front of block from head gasket. my question is are the head bolts reusable, and does the cam carrier have to come off, the head bolts seem to be on the outside of carrier. also does the water pump rotate to tension the cam belt or is there a seperate tensioner. I've done afew head gaskets over the years but not on vauxhalls. thankyou for any replies. Read more
no special tool required, there is a dog legged spanner but I have never seen anyone use one !
When you fit a new pump just make sure the housing is clean and use some grease or vasaline around the seal and new water pump bolts as the allen key heads tend to wear and fail when you least need it!
If the old pump is stuck just improvise to remove
This may be a silly question but I seem to have a low tyre pressure on my car. I have relatively new tyres so its not a slow puncture and it effects nearly all tyres. I park on a busy road where there is a fairly steep camber. I dont drive the car very much so it is parked there most of the time. Is there any chance that could be the cause? Read more
