They must allow an error factor, because if in his notes he has it down as 6 and 1 then 5 and 1, I would ask them what thair allowance is if they respond with 0 then ask them when is 5 a 6 Good luck

As per title, the vibration/ noise seems to be coming from the front passenger side, but that may well be because i have just come out of the car from that side. I find it strange that the sound only occurs after the acceleration pedal is lifted.

Can any one help me out.?... Read more

To try to keep a long story short!

Recently bought a 5 year old Daihatsu Charade with 25K miles. The service
record was fully stamped up and the dealer assured me it had been well
looked after etc etc by a local owner and fully serviced by a local,
reliable, garage.

When I got it home I noticed the service schedule stated the cam belt should
be changed at 60K or 5 years so it should have been changed at this years
service. I checked with the selling garage and it hadn't been. I think
he should do it; needless to say he doesn't! His argument is that it is an
'optional' service item and upto the owner. I argue that despite the
service stamp, it had not been fully serviced to the manufacturers schedule
and therefore was not as described by implication. (I do not believe the
dealer intentionally mislead me). I do feel I paid (slightly) over the top
for the car but was 'sold' on the reliability of a small dealer and full 6
month warranty but I don't feel like spending more now.

Have I got a case against the dealer who sold me the car. Indeed should I
worry as the car has only done 25K and cambelts don't deteriorate with age
(his argument, not mine). My last conversation with him resulted in the
manager (owner) agreeing to go halves; on the one hand I don't feel I
should, on the other hand I don't want the hassle of small claims court!
Should I just forget it and renew the belt in a couple of years or so
(mileage will be low)?

Many thanks for any opinions or advice. Read more

My glow plug light has stoped illuminating, now cold starting is difficult. I have owned the car for 6 years and the light has always illuminated, even when warm for a split second up untill a month ago. The Citroen hand book also states that the glow plug light will illuminate in warm conditions for a split second. I have fitted a new pre heat relay box and Citroen have fitted a new temperature sensor, but the light and glow plugs will not pre heat. The glow plugs work ok on post heat with the engine running. Citroen are now telling me that the light and the pre heat function should not operate untill the temperature is -15. I would be very greatful for some advise regarding this, thanks. Read more

I am looking to buy a used car and have noticed that there are a few posts that state the trader got the car "direct from the insurance company" - i was wondering what does this exactly mean? Read more

I would suggest that it means it 's been stuck back together again and don't touch it with a bargepole, unless you know exactly what you are doing.

Hi.

Could the immobiliser produce an intermittent fault as it seems to be fine left after a long period and starting but if i'm returning to the car in an hour sometimes it doesnt start. Also if ive left the keys in the ignition (engine off) say in a layby it produces a non start....

Not sure if the make of car is relevant. My husband will be out of action due to illness for a non-specified length of time and I'm wondering what to do about his car. At the moment I'm taking it for a drive every couple of weeks (a round trip of about 15 miles on an A road) making sure that I do a few of those miles at a reasonably high speed - there is no rev counter.

Is this too much, not enough or what? Any advice appreciated. Read more

I had a gut feeling just starting it and running for a few minutes wouldn't do. Will try to do the odd longer run sometimes. Will look for moisture crystals. Thank you both x
