Hi, some help needed please! Got a focus 2.0 TDCI 07 plate with 62,000 miles service is due end of this month but just starting to have a low oil pressure light come on only when the engine is hot and is idling 750-800 RPM. Starting when cold and driving the car the light doesn’t come on its only after a journey longer than 15mins doing over 50mph (i.e. up to normal operating temperature) the light comes on when down to idle. If I blip the throttle to 1250 RPM the light goes off most of the time. Also engine sounds fine and I have checked the oil level its only used 1/4 of a litre since last service.

I’m thinking get it serviced as soon as possible as oil could have lost its viscosity and getting to thin when hot? Would appreciate come comments please. Thank you ... Read more

I'm in a proper pickle!

My KA's spark plugs are seriously rusted in, so whilst trying to remove one of the plugs it broke off just bellow the head. I read a number of forum post which said that using an easy-out and some penetrating oil should get the broken section out.... Read more

Hi I'm looking for advice.

I took my car in for Head Gasket repair to an independent garage 3 weeks ago and was told it ould take about a week and a price was agreed. After about 5 days the garage phoned to say they had done the agreed repair but now they could not get the hydraulic suspension system to raise and the car was stuck on their ramp. I assured them there was nothing wrong with the suspension system when the car was brought into the garage. The garage owner said it was nothing they had done there. ... Read more

If when removing the head they inadvertantly disturbed or accidently slackened one of the many hydraulic pipes that are in the way then the suspension would collapse. When working with C5's it is normal for the vehicle to be jacked up on the body and let all four wheels hang failure to do so results in the above problems. In this case but not very often HJ is wrong.

I sold a car on ebay on July 20th. I sent the V5C to the DVLA, but it would appear that they did not receive it. I have received a tax reminder for the vehicle.

Unfortunately, the buyer turned up and took the car away that day. I am now in a position where I have absolutely no idea who the new owner is, because (naively) I did not make a copy of the document before sending it. Ebay are unwilling to divulge the details of the new owner as I am only able to send an invoice in the first 30 days (which would have the new owner's address on it).... Read more

Hello primeradriver ,you rang the DVLA and explained the situation i can't see what else you can do as stated in your letter.Maybe in future when sending documents to the DVLA send it registered so they have to sign and you have some proof from the postoffice just a thought.

please excuse my ignorance on these matters.... I have a 2.2 Auto fully loaded CDXi Omega ESTATE registered Oct '99 on a V plate with cruise control which I am reliably informed by the local Vauxhall dealer has a Y22XE engine (matched also in service booklet data) .... my gearbox has recently developed a problem ..... from cold it seems to take a long time to change from 1st to second then when the engine gets to 3500 rpm the orange engine management light comes on and the onboard computer dash screen states "automatic gearbox, check" - after registering this fault code the gearbox goes into "limp home" mode. My local trusted mechanic (who is not vauxhall main dealer and does not have access to a vauxhall diagnostic reader) is telling me that he has checked the fault code data with his machine and it would appear to him that the gearbox needs replacing as the fault is mechanical not electronic.

I have recently spent about £800 replacing the entire exhaust system, including a cracked manifold, the mass air flow meter, the throttle position potentiometer and new tyres... I am therefore now in two minds whether to cut my losses and sell the car for spares/repair or spend even more money on this car replacing the gearbox ???? I have seen an auto gearbox advertised for a 2.2 auto with a code number Z22XE ............. is this the matching gearbox to the Y22XE engine ??? Also is there any other possible reason(s) for the gearbox to register these faults... Read more

the fault does not have to be in the box on a chip car ,one bloke was looking at replacing his gm box when a bloke checked the egr valve after a clean up and and a zero for obe it ran like a rolls , if its done some miles you should drop the gearbox sump clean the filter and the pan anyway ,as for sealed for life thats b*****, the fluid needs to changed at 30,000 miles anyway here speaketh a 135,000 mile gm owner.
