2008 Ford Mondeo 2.0 litre estate - Brakes - Maintenance - 12bore

My car is a 2008 Mondeo 2.0 Litre petrol estate titanium x. Does any one know the minimum brake disc thickness for the front and rear? Also the minimum brake pad thickness?

Any info will be appreciated. Also are there any maintenance manuals available for this 2008 model as haynes do not seem to have produced one as yet?

I don't know the spec but observation is the key, if the pads have less than about 1/8" of material they need replacing, likewise the discs, if there is a substantial step in the edge they need changing.

Brake pads i would say les than 5mm change the pads.Disc what Peter said.

As a retired engineer to an active engineer, I submit the following if it is of any use.

The minimum disc thickness is usually stamped on the outer rim of the disc, my escort ventilated disc start at 21mm, the minimum is 18mm.

The minimum pad thickness is usually 1.5mm which is given in the M.O.T. testers manual

Sorry I dont want to sound cocky,but to wait for 1.5 mm brake pad thickness is looking for trouble.I would't.

In over 50 years of motoring I have always trusted my own judgment, you only have to look at the pads/shoes to see when they are nearly worn out, same with discs. Is it really going to make any difference plus or minus 1mm?

Disc thickness 28.0mm

Centre diameter 63.5mm
Minimum thickness 26.0mm

This assumes I've selected the correct model!
