Can anyone please help? So frustrated! Had a Zaffy now for ten months.Three months ago it lost power, and went into limp home mode. So, I took it to Vauxhall for diagnosis. Found out that it was on recall for replacement of FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. Had this replaced (luckily enough didn't have to pay this time). However problems continued. This time took it to another garage. They knew it had had regulator replaced, and so replaced the RAIL SENSOR. Very annoyed! Paid this out of my own pocket.

Problem still continued.....Took back to Vauxhall as well as the garage. Apparently the numbers on the PRESSURE REGULATOR are not the ones on file for the regulator that was replaced beforehand. (Apparently the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR and the RAIL SENSOR are the same part and I've had this peplaced twice in two months.) Technician said it isn't this that is at fault, it must be the FUEL PUMP, and quoted over £500.... Read more

Hi cherry-sky

I don't know if you have had your problem sorted out yet, but I had the same one with my Zafira 2.2 Life ('55 plate) in November 2010. The 'spanner' warning light kept coming on yet when I took it to my local garage they couldn't find anthing wrong with it. Then, after a final test drive by the mechanic, it totally stopped and would not re-start. I called the AA and had to take it to my local Vauxhall dealer - Toomeys at Southend-on-Sea and they fixed it in the same day. They said it was a 'software problem' and that they had to update the car's software. Fingers crossed it seems to have worked for my Zafira....

My car refused to start and the AA diagnosed a shorted turn fuel pump. Garage wants £552.25 for a new one. excluding labour. Outrageous for a 13yr old car. I can't afford to replace the car nor pay silly money for a pump. A washing machine pump is around £15 and there isn't that much difference. Anyone know where I can get a recon or second hand one? I got a flyer for the Speedway Museum (Speedway's First National Museum). It looked very interesting but then came the rub. It is in Paradise Wildlife Park and you have to pay the full admission of £14 (£11 for kids) as admission to the museum is included in this. Has anybody been? I visited Paradise Park over a decade ago and have no real desire to visit it again so am interested if anybody thinks the museum is worth £14!!! Read more

Re changing the CHT sensor - I have the same problem (temp gauge 'shooting' into the red zone then quickly dropping back) - I changed the sensor but the temp gauge still acts the same. The engine does not seem to overheat and this situation only occurs when the engine is under load when going up hill. This condition does not degrade the engine performance (see handbook) and no error codes are shown on the EMU memory (see handbook for how to check these codes and the web for the interpretation of them) Any ideas anybody please?

Note - If you want to change the sensor - My engine is 1.6 auto 2002 - the CHT sensor is best bought from a Ford dealer as there appear to be a number different ones - cost £23. The sensor lies between the 2nd and 3rd spark plugs and is situated in a well set into the cylinder head. Firstly, the electrical connection is released by gently probing with a thin long screwdriver (checkout a similar connection type in the engine bay first). The sensor can then be unscrewed with a box socket spanner of approx 19mm. However, the upper plastic sensor body is slightly larger than this size so your socket may need to be cut back somewhat. A US blog suggests tieing back the sensor cable clear of the surrounding plug cables (EMF interference?) and I have done this but it did not solve the problem. All idea much appreciated...............

As wierd as it sounds, try checking the battery voltage. If it is down even a little. the computer won't work properly and have wierd things happen. Your symtoms were exactly like mine and that is what happened to me. I put in a new battery and the problem ended.

My 1999 Ka will no longer blow hot air, only cold.
Reading around it's been suggested that replacing the heater valve might do the trick. Does that sound like a plan? Is it difficult? I'm not at all experienced with engine repairs.
Also, the car has air con. Would I need to drain the air con system to get to the heater? Read more

im having an un usual pro in that respect. but i would sugest before you purchase a new hcv that you test the old one first.

its easy to replace even for a novice but first check weather the pipes comming out of the hcv are hot or cold when engine at normal temp or just hot up to the heater control valve....

Railroad.

In that case it sounds like a shaft seal leaking in the pump body. Definitely a specialist job.....
