Hello everyone

I have a ford fiesta 1.4 TDCI 2007 with 50.000 miles. I have a rough idle and engine shaking until 1500 rpms, higher than that it calms down. No other symptoms, no power loss, no smoke, no smell no nothing, just that shaking. And it also shakes when I start driving in the 1st gear.
I did a reading and it gave me the following codes:

P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
p0238 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit High
p0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution/Balance Fault
p0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault
p0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution/Balance Fault
and p0504 or p504 something about the brake switch

I was advised to upgrade the pcm (ecu).

Any Ideas ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I got the same fault my local garage did a scan on it and those faults appeared that you mentioned. I got the cyclinder contribution faults come up for all 4 cyclinders. The garage mentioned its likely that one or more of the fuel injectors are faulty. Hence causing the engine to misfire and shake when running idle

Do you get a lot of smoke being produced? Poor mpg? Poor acceleration on hills? This what happens in my car car...

I have to replace the battery in my sister-in-law's car, and as she does only short runs and the battery has died twice already, the RAC advised her to get a new one.

Can anyone tell me which original make/model of battery is installed in a 2005 BMW 320 Petrol Saloon?... Read more

I have just replaced the battery on my E39 tds and used a Varta 110ah which I got from ebay. What you need to compare is the Ah capacity and length of guarantee, the 'goodness' and capacity of a battery can be gauged by its weight - the more lead the higher capacity and longer life, this is really the critera for comparing prices.

I don't know if BMW use calcium batteries as they are a different ball game.

Hi, my mother in laws C3 has just snapped its drivers side coil spring. After trawling the net I have vound numerous complaints about this. Are they really that common in breaking? Also is it easy to replace or should it go to a garage, as obviously I will need a coil compression tool to compress the spring during fitting.

my daughter had a front spring break in jan this year(2012) on her 04 pluriel fortunately she was going very slowly so it just dropped .phoned up citroen garage after reading of recall on 02 reg C3s but they said it wasnt included. On a chance I phoned up citroen cusomer services and as soon as i mentioned the fault they said (without any argument) they would pay for it which they did! and replaced Both sides springs, leg, abs wires and a new tyre as a precaution so they must know of a continuing fault past 02 and on pluriels as well. unfortunately tonight (march 12 )a rear spring has just snapped while in the driveway i dont think i will be as lucky this time.

Friend's Pug 207 clutch has just failed. It's a 2007 1.6HDI with just 25k on the clock supplied (used) by main dealer and although it's still within its warranty I'm sure that the dealer will say it's wear and tear and that hios (or the previous owner's) driving style is to blame. Dealer wants to charge him £100 just to inspect the damage but before he takes it in I was wondering if this model has a dual mass flywheel which could cost him £1,000+ to repair?

I also noticed through Google that there may be a known problem with Peugeot clutch assemblies? Read more

Depends on how long you want to keep it. i don't buy this Mercedes quality issue at all. I have an old Merc and I know people with Mercs of most vintages from 30 years old to quite new and hear of no serious problems. To be fair I have no experience of BMW or Audi....

Perhaps inevitably the road outside my son's school becomes clogged am and pm as parents drop off and collect. The school has been very good at encouraging parents to walk and have painted a single yellow line on the school side of the road 50m either side of school.

Usually parking is not to bad and the yellow line seems to work, cars park further away and on side streets for example. But in the rain today the pavement outside school was full of cars parked mainly on the pavement, leaving about a third of a pavement width.... Read more

Expect letters to the school from "concerned parent" accusing the headteacher of risking the lives of the very children he/she is charged to protect. Well I say children i mean MY CHILD, MY CHILD, not their children, who get in the way while I'm trying to park.

ive been doing some research and found that common rail diesel pumps do not need coding, but the injectors are coded to the ecu, Also ive read somewhere that injectors are coded so the know what cylinders they are in.

My injectors were numbered before they were taken out, not by me, does anyone know what order the injectors are in or the firing order

Can anyone please help? So frustrated! Had a Zaffy now for ten months.Three months ago it lost power, and went into limp home mode. So, I took it to Vauxhall for diagnosis. Found out that it was on recall for replacement of FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. Had this replaced (luckily enough didn't have to pay this time). However problems continued. This time took it to another garage. They knew it had had regulator replaced, and so replaced the RAIL SENSOR. Very annoyed! Paid this out of my own pocket.

Problem still continued.....Took back to Vauxhall as well as the garage. Apparently the numbers on the PRESSURE REGULATOR are not the ones on file for the regulator that was replaced beforehand. (Apparently the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR and the RAIL SENSOR are the same part and I've had this peplaced twice in two months.) Technician said it isn't this that is at fault, it must be the FUEL PUMP, and quoted over £500.... Read more

Hi cherry-sky

I don't know if you have had your problem sorted out yet, but I had the same one with my Zafira 2.2 Life ('55 plate) in November 2010. The 'spanner' warning light kept coming on yet when I took it to my local garage they couldn't find anthing wrong with it. Then, after a final test drive by the mechanic, it totally stopped and would not re-start. I called the AA and had to take it to my local Vauxhall dealer - Toomeys at Southend-on-Sea and they fixed it in the same day. They said it was a 'software problem' and that they had to update the car's software. Fingers crossed it seems to have worked for my Zafira....

Oh deary me!

I wipped off the rocker cover to adjust the noisy tappets, and after extracting the sheared remains of the spark plug from the block, I found that the number 2 inlet pushrod was sat about half an inch lower than the rest of them. I took off the rocker and took out the push rod and it looked ok, not bent / snapped or worn. When I replaced it, it seated as well as all the others. So I replaced the rocker and the only way I could get it to make contact with the pushrod and get the correct ish clearance was by fully screwing in the adjustment screw. Can anybody tell me the cause of this and how long it may last in this conditon?! It seems to be running ok now but hesitates at higher revs. Also intermitant heat from the vents??? Anyone want to buy it??? lol Read more

Oh deary me!

Hi,

Serviced my Son's car yesterday prior to MOT next saturday. I noticed the rear brake pads are low and will need replacing in the near future. Will I need a special tool to turn the caliper piston back in like many cars do? Does the piston have slots in it that you can get a rair of curved pointed nose pliers on?... Read more

Hi Railroad,
