I put too much oil in my engine - probably about double what I should - a couple of months ago. I had no clue how to get it back out so I've been running the car like that.
In mid February it started getting a little sluggish, losing power while moving and requiring additional pressure on the clutch to maintain speed and power. However the clutch became a little sticky at around the same time and this led to the car almost kangarooing while driving.... Read more
Have you ACTUALLY checked the oil in the last few days? The opposite may have happened as high oil can blow all the engine seals - thus all the excess oil, plus the remainder being thrown out. If that has happened the engine 'could' be heading for a big siezure.

Hi,
Anyone got any experiences to share regards Renault Oldham and/or Lookers Stockport? I'm particularly interested in comments on their servicing, as I'm considering getting my Renault serviced at Renault Oldham or Lookers Stockport soon? I used an independent last year but wasn't impressed so that's why I am thinking of going to one of these two.... Read more
Yeah I did have a look on the Good Garages search and noticed that Renault Oldham come up, but I couldn't see any reviews as such, just that they are signed up to Motorcodes and have been recommended. I would just ideally like a review or two. Anyway thanks for reminding me regarding the Good Garages link.
Hi, I have lost drive on the n/s front wheel discovered after jacking up the front end. Guess this is a drive shaft issue but is this an easy remedy with replacing or not cost effective? How difficult is this to replace DIY or garage.
The car now has 250,000 on the clock but still runs well and is in great condition for L reg. Read more
OK! You've boggled lots of minds. Can we have a more detailed explanation of your original diagnosis and subsequent fix please?
Hi all you Hyundai fans!
A friend is at her wits end with her Hyundai Terracan, bought new in 05, now done 56,000 miles. In all this time she has been battling with the local dealer and Hyundai HQ to get them to fix the steering which pulls to the left all the time. She's now asked me to help out - bit of bloke support, I think, so I thought I'd get some informed views here first.... Read more

Hi I am having the same problem as well. Did you manage to get your sorted. Peugeot are reluctant to release the details of how to time the chain
Please forgive me if this is entered in the wrong place, but I would like to hear from anybody who has experience premature clutch failure on Citroen / Peugeot, I am only interested in 2.0 HDI (138) on a six speed gearbox. My family owns four C5's and we have had to replace three of these due to weak diaphragm springs NOT due to wear. Please reply to clutchfailure@yahoo.co.uk Read more
Removed steering wheel, steering lock, re-assembled with new locking washer. On driving the locking washer down, appear to have shortened steering column by about 1/2" (12mm) Have tried drawing back up using large back washers etc with limited success. Have slackened lower universal joint to no effect. Is it possible/probable that the inner column has telescoped down ?, and if so, any suggestions as to how I can draw it back out again ? I haven't yet completely removed steering column, and would prefer not to if at all possible!
Many Thanks... Read more
Thanks both for help. Removed and dismantled column and was able to re-set to correct length,re-installed and working fine. Can't understand why it wouldn't draw out whilst still assembled - very simple once dismantled!
hi everyone, not posted here before and know almost nothing about cars so please excuse my ignorance.
I've just been towed home by the AA. There diagnostics machine came up with FAULT CODE 11 - crankshaft position sensor. ... Read more
Hi,the crankshaft sensor will be located in the engine block, NOT the distrubutor housing.
Hope that helps. Toyota techy - andy
Shortly after starting on a journey my 306 will suddenly jolt into 3rd gear and the ice and sport box lights start flashing together. The only way to correct it is to stop, turn off the engine and start again.
This does not happen if the engine is warmed up and the oil pressure is beginning to rise. The garage are suggesting a new gear box (after only 56K). Surely there is some sensor that needs replacing?... Read more
I don't know about the flashing lights, but it seems to me that the box is going into a 'get you home' mode.
I have a 307 which did a vey similar thing. I called a main dealer who put me on to an auto box specialist who said this was fairly common, and could be rectified by changing a solenoid....

Re the Haynes manual, when we did this job on my brother-in-law's old 306 D Turbo, we were delayed considerably trying to extract the rack from the wrong side of the car, as instructed by the manual. I can't remember which side it said, and which we did, but the manual was wrong. And yes, we followed the right to left definition explained at the start of the manual. Hugely frustrating.
