i dropped my car off to the mechanic on Tuesday. I said i thought it needed a new washer motor and there was a noise under the front left side. Also the tyre on the front right had gone flat twice and looked like it was deflating again and the spare needed replacing as it had been used and went flat so i had to use a can of that sprey stuff in it (sorry not that good with the names but i think you get what i mean).

Tuesday afternoon he tells me its all done, he'd sent the tyres to the tyre centre next door and the front right was ok, he'd fitted a new washer motor and replaced the spring in the front left shock absorber as it had snapped. I asked about the the tyre in the boot and he said he forgot about it and he'd get it sorted out.... Read more

I wonder if anyone can help with this one ?
I have a 2001 Peugeot 306 HDI 2.0 with the error code P0220 Throttle position sensor error.
I have had a couple of these changed in the past after which the error went away for a while, 10 months was the longest.
I can't believe 2 sensors have failed, so think the problem lies elsewhere.
I have read about a wiring modification that can help with this problem, to do with the air flow sensor.
So can you tell me which wires require modifying, I believe it to be a couple of earths that need sorting.
At present when the fault triggers the orange management light the car goes into limp home mode which usually lasts for a few minutes and then the car drives as normal.
Thanks . Read more

I know that using copper grease can help. There probably is a modification: you can probably get it from a ford dealer or motor factor. I have heard of this problem on Ka's, and is a problem!

Hi, this is a very very long shot but I hope someone can help me...

My father, Frank Loraine, was a toolmaker working for a small company in Edgware Middlesex in the 1960's. He was taken to the London Motorshow in the early/mid 60's, I believe 1963, and I was told it was because he had designed an automatic seatbelt which Britax were launching at the show. I believe this to be the Inertia Reel Seatbelt. I believe the company he worked for sold his design to Britax.....and no he didn't get anything for it. In fact his employers treated him quite badly.... Read more

Perhaps it was just dumped thickly on the roads last night because it was there? Funny though there was none in South Leeds. But pop over the border of a connecting local authority and it was as though the Golden Horde had come through - in the form of gritters.

The gritters that had been severely constipated all Winter, leaving cars to slither on sheets of ice and hard packed snow - now, with the mere hint of a 3c night..... Read more

Down near Bath +2c is the coldest it got this week on one night but the gritters were out plastering everything in salt you thought you'd seen the last of until next winter.

There it is in the rack on the engine assembly line and it`s quivering with fear - will it spend it`s life with it`s feet in a pool of sludge and it`s head in a salt and filth encrusted engine bay or what?

As the last communal night falls, the little rods chatter and try to calm each others nerves. Because tomorrow at least one in the thousand will never find peace. Never the slumber endowed by manufacturers 20,000 service intervals and the palpable plonkerdom of the non checking motorist.... Read more
