Not us, because Mrs O is working. But even 40 yrs ago i thought twice about risking heading for Bridlington at Easter. I think we did it once or twice, with a very early start and then returning just after lunch.

Even then, it was solid traffic still heading into the resort (well, it was a resort in those days) with a clear road out.... Read more

The hottest day of the year, so far! 28.5C seen on the car thermometer, up in the hills, during a nice drive. (Only 21C on the coast, at home, but still pleasant.) Back through the orange groves of San Martin and Secadero, where the warmth of the sun on the orange blossoms has filled the air with their strong perfume.

Can anyone recommend a detector please? Ideally, it should be settable to different limits and sound/flash when these are exceeded. It should update itself automaticaly and without a subscription. Read more

I've encountered a similar problem, the engine management software had become corrupted and needed to be reinstalled, once that was done no more starting problems, no more strange noises from the dash.

I've just posted this on a similar site, it's not been well advertised IMO

Yes, a bit rude that. Fancy giving the celebration of the ressurrection top billing over a few blokes driving round in circles. And on Easter Sunday as well. The BBC ought to hang their heads in shame. ;-)

Well, I reckon they may be the most likely auditory advisories of antideluvian anxiety - the horse shoes in an oil drum, low frequency cacophonic cornubia of lost love in the tin can of one`s youth.

Don`t you just love engine sounds? Perhaps you removed the sound deadening too, so you could hear that `diesely sound` more clearly as you motor along (cough)... Read more

I think that as well as the oil it's a matter of rhe type of engine and how it's used.

I can remember in around 2000, whren I had a Laguna V6, the service manager at my friendly Renault garage saying what a lovely sweet engine it had - I think this was at the 40,000-mile service. Indeed it went on to do 100,000 miles without trouble and never used a drop of oil. None of yer long-life servicing despite the high mileage - oil change every 10,000....

Or did it turn out the apples were sour, small, fell off, or got riddled with little grubs?

We had an apple tree years ago, (inherited from as previous gardener) from memory - it needed spraying with systemic insecticide at, bud opening, flower finished, then every so often until a few weeks before picking. Then there was the fungicide at regular intervals to prevent scab.... Read more
