I thought, let`s try a puzzle for a change - so here goes.
A single photograph will identfy the object in question and two of the clues below are in the photo. Most clues - plus identification wins.... Read more
So why do the manufacturers sell, and indeed the public purchase, invisible cars, ie a certain colour of grey that disappears against the wet road, and some silvers are near as bad. Plus a side issue, why can one NOT see oncoming indicators on certain models , since they are incorporated within the larger brighter headlamp cluster, design, huh.

Me and SWMBO regularly travel to Kent to visit her family. Always enjoy it once there but the journey really hacks me off and always for the same reason. The Dartford Crossing. Even at close to midnight at weekends I have queued on the bridge. The reason- MONEY. I mean how long will it take to pay for the bridge? It was built in 1991. It is sickening that the whole of the western world which seems to be permanently on the M25 has to grind to a halt to hand over a toll. God- special tax when you buy a car and VAT, annual vehicle tax, fuel duty and VAT, insurance tax - how much money does it take to run the roads? I now hear that the bridge is up for sale, which means whoever buys it will need to collect the tolls. Surely the bridge belongs to Joe Public. What a reflief it would be if the whole M25 was open right around. Surely it would mean less pollution and wasted fuel for thousands of queueing vehicles and far less stressed and frustrated drivers. Come on MOT do us all a favour. What a vote winner! Read more
Interestingly the Scottish government has abolished tolls on the Forth road bridge and I think other bridges too - welcome, though I suspect that some of the things that the Scots get free are being paid for by subsidies from Whitehall....
I have a memory of riding a Triumph through a little village on the way to the coast in the mid 60`s (Bank Hols) and encountering a group of Police officers clustered around a table, at the side of the road. Can`t remember whether it was radar or those strips on the road.
I think there was a Min i van or Ford Anglia pursuit car parked nearby too - first speed trap ever seen and all very civilized.... Read more

When I am accelerating my car seem to jerk as if there is air in the fuel line , it mainly occurs when I reach between 50 and 60 mph , it seems to calm down after that . I have just changed Air and Fuel filter and also just cleaned the MAF sensor but no change. My car has about 125K on teh clock, could this be a turbo problem ??
Many thanks Read more

Hgvs being banned from overtaking has been extended.
The latest permanent ban is introduced on two sections of the A1M in Co Durham, which joins two other no-overtaking zones on the M42 near Birmingham and two sections of the A14 in Northamptonshire near Cold Ashby.Three other areas are being trialled. Travel times for non-hgvs were up 17% and hgvs times weren't adversely affected.... Read more
Just back from the continent.
I read an article where this point was judged on appeal in court.
A lorry overtake should 45-50 seconds at most.
Anything above this was unreasonable and therefore an offence.
I have fitted new front brake pads on my Golf 1.9 TDi (54 plate) and suddenly the pedal has gone spongy. What's happened?
You have fitted new brake pads - that's whats happened, you should find that as the pads bed in and assume the shape of the disc, the sponginess will go. The only other explanation could be air in the hydraulic system but unless you have had it open thats unlikley.
We were watching the news this Morning, or at least I was because it was 5.30am and Mrs O was lying under a cover on the sofa, eyes closed - ready for an early start.
"A new, to science, 6 foot long lizard has been discovered in the Philippines" Intoned the overpaid news reader - and instantly there was a sarcastic comment from Mrs O.... Read more
The problem with the Google model (downloading maps all the time) is you have to have a signal and fast data access when using it. If you lose the signal (or you're on a slower connection because of weak signal or an older transmitter) you can say goodbye to sat nav maps.
You also have to download the same maps over and over - the mobile networks will love this....
I have recently bought a Mazda 6 and although I am overall pleased with the car and its performance, I am little concerned with a couple of slight problems.
The main one being that when the engine has got up to running temperature and the car is ticking over it will 'miss a beat' and the revs will drop a fraction every 10 seconds or so, this stops when I press in the clutch. I have read on other posts that there is a common fault with the fuel pump on the Mazda, but I have eliminated this due to it stopping when I press in the clutch (I may be wrong as I am no expert!), I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced anything similar and had managed to find out what the problem is?...
