I am trying to change a drive belt on a scooter, and the manual states that a 'rotor locking tool' should be used. I cannot find a picture of this, and hence I am not sure how this item looks 'in the flesh'!

Can anyone advice me on this task? Also, which electrically powered impact wrench would backroomers recommend for occasional use?... Read more

Can someone recommend an air compressor that would be suitable for the DIY user, i.e. rare use, for spray guns, air drill/ wrench and other items? I think this is the only way I can remove this bolt. Also, are their electric air wrenches that are recommended and of a suitable capacity/ power?

On our 1996 Xantia the steering sometimes goes heavy (including understeer), more so after starting it in the morning. We bought it in Nov last year with full service history, full service and with new spheres fitted 140,000 miles on the clock. The LHM level is fine, any anwsers please to solve this.

My CRT television has a strange fading-sound problem, and I hope someone can help.

It's a 32" Sony CRT anolog TV, flatscreen with built-in-woofer. (I bought it cheap on fleabay a few years ago when ppl with too much money were chucking out such things in favour of LCD TVs)... Read more

Probably a dried out cap in the power supply causing one of the rails to drift out of tolerance. Bring back valves - that would have been an easy fix!

I have'nt run a petrol vehicle for about 30 years so know very little about the modern ones, but it sounds as though its missing on one cylinder or more, I would say the first thing to go for and the easiest is the plugs (I believe they still have them) other than that I think they have things called 'coil packs' would likely be your second option.

I have a 2005 2.0 TDCI Focus. In the last couple of weeks I've noticed something odd when I first start the car. I turn the key to start the car and nothing happens-the engine doesn't turn over, random dash lights come on and the speedo needle goes up to 50 mph and stays there (even though the car is not moving!). The trip meter also resets itself to 0. On the couple of occasions this has happened by getting out of the car, locking it, unlock then turn the key again the car starts. I'm assuming electrics, anyone shed any expertise on this? The battery is fully charged and no fault codes showing.

Had the wheels refurbished and they look great. In the process the centres disappeared. I wasn't worried as they were 4 random ill fitting things. I thought I'd pick some up dead easy but a year later I still haven't found any. All the specialist parts people say they don't exist. One went as far as to say look for a plastic tube that has a top the right size (50mm) and cannibalize it to fit... Ebay turns up everything except what I need.

Does anyone in this expert forum know where I can get four 50mm plastic wheel centres. The logo is irrelevant - I can manage the decorative bits.... Read more
