Hi all,

This evening I have come home to a letter from a police force two counties away from where I live telling me that they saw a car registered ALMOST to me (surname spelt slightly wrong) of the same make, model and colour as mine but with a very different number plate (2 1/2 years older) doing 51 in a 30.... There is an identical silver Golf to ours locally with one digit (the last one) difference in the registration plate. One is an E and one is an F, so well within the realms of an ANPR screw up as well! :-)

i`ve a tendency to like it right at the full mark and often this results in 8th inch or so overl.

Must be a habit from the olden days - when it was like topping up the fuel tank - either that or it`s thinking an extra half coffee mug fof oil will give a bit of extra reserve - in the additive and suspension of particles dept..... Read more

Car is about 12 years old and just rolled 100,000 a couple of weeks about. I've had it for 70k and 8 years and it's used 1 litre of oil. Short journies, hard thrash with red lines and sat for days at a time, some times a tank of fuel lasts 6 weeks.

Tractor has 670 hours on the clock and uses burns oil about 3% of the fuel it uses. I have driven combine harvesters that were using 1 us quart per day or more of oil from new, but it was a side effect of later emmison control and they run under full load continually....

Have a "Y" reg that has only done 18,000 miles and is kept outside. Front tyres will need replacing before next winter, but rears still look almost new. No signs of UV damage or cracking. However, given its age, should I replace all 4 tyres at the same time? Read more

If the age of the rear tyres is the same as the car then they are 9 or 10 years old

Good advice to change tyres after they reach certain age, I was told about 10 years but I suppose that Toyota are being cautious by stating 6 years....

My front tyres have a few mm left, they have even wear and still plenty of treat but they are getting low after 30k.

The rears are practically new, same brand. ... Read more

We just had the dealer fit two new tyres on the Jazz: one of the old ones was made in 2003 according to the marking on the tyre. Getting on a bit I thought. Must have been NOS as the car was registered in 2005. Wife asked for the new tyres to go on the rear, but they ignored/service desk didn't pass on the message.

Cos I got 215,000 on mine & it is still good, despite occasional heavy (3500kg) trailer towing, a lot of town stop start driving, plus 300miles of using in lieu of brakes, ie down through the gears. Mind two adolescents learning may just be its death knell.
