Never a particularly easy job as nothing is usually easy to get at but if you have the time and agility you should be able to manage it. Buy yourself a Haynes manual - a lot cheaper than paying someone to do it.

Re the Haynes manual, when we did this job on my brother-in-law's old 306 D Turbo, we were delayed considerably trying to extract the rack from the wrong side of the car, as instructed by the manual. I can't remember which side it said, and which we did, but the manual was wrong. And yes, we followed the right to left definition explained at the start of the manual. Hugely frustrating.
