Hi all, anyone know of any decent scrappies in hertfordshire area?? used to be a great one in Potters Bar but it's gone now. I've checked yellow pages and so forth but the findings are a little thin. I know you can get bit's and bob's from parts 24/7 and ebay etc but call me old fashioned but i did prefer to get the bit's myself

any recommendations? Read more

Was that the one Cranborne Rd off Mutton lane in Potters Bar that has gone?

I used them many times whilst I lived in Barnet!

Had one mean Alsation didn't they?

I also used these Redcorn Ltd on White Hart Lane opposite William St - not sure if they are still in business though- always had a 'healthy selection, of car parts!

Don't laugh, this is serious.

Engineers are checking out a potential problem with the Mini Cooper S after complaints in the USA about leg burns caused by the car's hot exhaust pipes.

America's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been called in following 28 complaints by customers who have bought 2007-2008 model year cars which have dual exhaust pipes that protrude beyond the car's rear bumper.

They say they burned their legs when taking things out of the boot. The NHTA has already upgraded its probe to an engineering analysis, a step that is often the precursor to a recall.

If the tailpipe protrudes enough to be able to burn you, it protrudes enough for you to be able to bark your shin on it. I'm sure I'd have noticed this faux pas and turned the car down. Don't buyers walk around cars before they part with their cash?

Hi all, I have LEDs fitted (by me) to replace the standard bulbs for lighting the rear number plate.

They are bright white, will I have any issues with the MOT? I could swap them temp for the originals if needed.

Thanks for any advice.

>>doesn't everything have to have something like an 'EE' compliance marking

For the purposes of the MOT, for the number plate lamp, any markings to indicate European compliance aren't checked. It can only fail for the 6 reasons given above.

I picked up my new Mazda 2 TS2 last week and remember thinking at the time it did not have a TS2 badge on the back. In all honesty this does not bother me in the slightest and I thought Mazda had probably done away with this for the latest models. However, I saw my first 58 Mazda 2 other than mine today and it had a TS2 badge on the back. Anyone know why the difference? Read more

I'll have to go and check that in mine now... Doubt it's there as I've had the car 5 weeks and not seen it but it won't be the first time I've missed something obvious. A passenger pointed out that the thing in the cup holder was an ash tray the other day, something I'd completely missed!

Like it says, really. If a small garage buys part-ex motors from a main dealer, and sells them for £500; £1000; £2000, what have they paid for them - typically?

The last time I traded a car in, I got £200 for a dented, mega miles Peugeot 306 dt. The garage scrapped it (last date of liability was one week after I sold it, per DVLA), so they don't win all the time. Of course this was a few years ago, when scrap wasn't so valuable.

I've just replaced the front flexi hoses on my 1990 BX19 TZS auto for the MoT and now one is leaking when I turn the engine on Ive made sure the union is tightened up correctly the other side is fine no leaks at all. Am I missing something or possibly have a faulty flexi hose. Are there external seals that need to be placed before the unions are connected ? Read more

I have had my Vectra from new as a company car so drove it nearly every day. In 2006 I went on holiday and left it for 10 days. When I returned it would not start, but eventually it did. I took into my local dealer and they could not find any problem with it. Since then I have taken it back a couple of times with this problem but they could not find any fault with it. As I drove it almost every day this problem very rarely happened. Recently I bought this car from my company for my wife to use. As she now only uses it on the odd occasion this is happening all the time. I have taken it back to the dealer and they have now found the problem 'Injector seals' and want £500 to replace.

Is this something they should check for when investigating this type of problem and should they have picked this up when I initially took it in?

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Quite frankly if a Vx dealer didn't check the leak off pipes and injector seals first for the reported fault I wouldn't trust them to check my screenwash :-((

In 2004 obtained megane on finance. In 2007 they changed finance from RFS to RCI. My final payment was due in June 2007. They should have contacted me or tried to take the final payment from my account but did not do so.

Today because I no longer require the vehicle tried to take the car back to the dealer, but was told that I could not leave it with them and to contatct RCI for them to arrange collection. Spoke to RCI and was told that it was my fault that final payment was not paid and that they only thing I could do was to pay the balance. Eventually was told by someone calling themselves Asst Manager of Customer Service to take car to dealer and leave the keys with them and RCI would collect from them. Dealer said not possible so stuck with car. I do not want any advice.
