Please Please help any renault fitters, got a guys clio 51 plate 1200 16v. electronic light flashes on, cutting out at junctions, revs up and down. Heard so much about this problem for a long time, read all the forums, nothing definate to fix problem, throttle bodys being replaced putting the fault right and also not putting the fault right. This partiucular clio has had a map sensor, lamda sensor, wiring to ecu repaired, coil pack, brake switch totalling £600. I got it today, and after some time spent on it, i am convinced its the throttle body. the fault is intermittant, can run perfect for a good while the suddenly at the next junction, stalls, light flashes on, revs up nad down. Scan test comes up with the dealer accessable code only.
This guy has spent a lot of cash so far and i want to be 100 % before i buy a throttle body.
Maybe a trip to the dealers is required but i read even they have fitted bodies and has not sorted the problem.
I would be very gratful for any constructive feedback to put this problem to bed.
Cheers
Big Dave.

A traffic census in east Hull caused gridlock today.
Two Highways Agency checkpoints were set up in Hedon Road and Holderness High Road causing delays of more than an hour for motorists coming into the city centre.
Humberside Police took the decision to cancel the census mid-morning after the congestion became too heavy.

Pity they didn't do the same on the A338 in Dorset. There was eight miles of tailbacks on the north bound carriageway out of Bournemouth during the morning rush hour last week
my reverse light is not working on my 51 reg Arosa even though i have put a new bulb in .... help needed please as my MOT is coming up Read more
Relax; reverse lights aren't part of the MOT test.
I'm sure you will want them working though. I take it you've checked the fuses? No idea where the reverse switch is, but if you can locate it, then disconnect the wires and short together. If they then work, then the switch is the likely culprit.

The latest VW radio advert with the mono tone cow noise tailing off into an engine roar, is really irritating. I turn it off whenever I can. But it is on nearly every ad break.

I hate the Seat ads, band usually don't like Reanult ads - except the ones where Annelise Hesme appears! Gorgeous!
Hi, i've recently purchased the above car, and it seems to have a 'rev' issue. whilst it doesn't happen all the time im still a bit worried. The revs seem to jump from 3000 to 3500 when accelerating, then take a while to go back down again. it doesn't do it whilst changing gear or slowing down though (so far). When i say they jump to 3000 upwards, it happens if i accelerate fairly quickly, but can be from idle to 2000...
I'm stuck and a total focus novice - any ideas?!
thanks! Read more
If the revs suddenly jump when in gear, but the car doesn't go any faster, then a slipping clutch comes to mind.
Bought trade or private?
Hi, my girlfriend recently purchased a 2005 1.4 fiesta zetec petrol from GK, approx a week after purchase we started to notice the car losing power out of the blue and juddering. The car judders violently as if it is about to stall and then you will get all the power back and shoot off.
It has been into GK again and they said it was the clutch? This was repaired and the car continues to do this fairly frequently. GK have road tested the car several times and havent experienced the problem
Any ideas would be helpful
Thank you, Carl. Read more

Severe loss of power and juddering can be a sign of insulation failure on the HT leads - or even a failing coilpack.
Tell the garage to take a hard look at the ignition side.
Have been offered Octavia Est 1o5bp tdi metallic paint new no p/ex for £14700 from a dealership is it a good deal? Read more
Doesn't look brilliant but depends on the spec and any extras. Drive The Deal will do a new Ambiente (mid spec) with metallic for 13,200 or the Elegance (top spec, lots of kit) for 13,700.
I might be miles behind the times and everyone knows this, but for less than £20 you can buy this radar gun (nominally a toy) that does actually measure speed up to 100mph. So now you really can work out whether your neighbours are speeding or not.
First link is to Amazon for the gun, second is to a chap who tried a lighthearted experiment in his street with it.

Use that where I live and someone will come back and not only take it off you but hit you for being so Victor Meldrew!
Like the ball speed idea though. A group of us get together to play a bit of cricket still so I will suggest this for use in the nets!

Call them what you will, us Manchester surveyors call them flagged roofs, as they are thick stone and not slate. Slate is a specific stone that delaminates easily. Stone and usually sandstone does not; it is much heavier, with pieces that are much larger in area and resemble flagstones that you walk on.

So there are fault-codes; but they've never been read by a machine that could decipher them?
