Have the Haynes manual for the Berlingo including versions with HDi 90. Although it specifies torque for the transmission drain all it says for the sump plug is to replace washer and tighten securely.

Hi there everyone I have a problem!

Does anyone know the colour coding for the audio on a Transit X reg 2001?

Whoever had the van before me has trimmed and messwed with the wires Read more

Thingy

I don't know the colour coding for your transit but you can use a little trick and multimeter to find out what each wire does. Locate wire doubles for example green/white + green/black -, purple/white + purple/black -, now connect both wires to the + and - on a 9v battery (rectangle shaped battery) you should hear a crackle which will tell you if the wiring is for F/L, F/R, RR, RL speaker and go through all four sets. 12V Positive is usually red but you can verify by using a multimeter to check for voltage. Ignition is usually yellow or orange, again you can check this by turning the ignition on and off with the multimeter connected. Illumination orange or yellow, Remote wire is normally blue. Ground will be the black or brown wire. Any other wires should now be alot easier to figure out with the use of the radio diagram if available.

Hope this helps, good luck!

NEW DRIVEWAY LEGISLATION
From 1st October 2008 planning permission is now required to lay traditional impermeable driveways that allow uncontrolled runoff of rainwater.

Released by Communities and Local Government and Environment Agency called 'Guidance on the permeable surfacing of front gardens'

sounds like they are trying to blame the householder for all the flooding! because we have carelessly and thoughtlessly hard - surfaced our drives and thier sewers and drains cant cope.

Doh! - what will be next?

Hmmmm.

I think I've sold my 406, maybe.

This is a likely candidate. Aside from the woeful description, I think it looks okay for the price.

tinyurl.com/4qndrk

Questions I have asked the seller -

1. Service history?
2. When was the last cambelt/tensionser/water pump change?
3. Any bodywork defects, other than missing reflector?
4. Original engine (engine number unknown on HPI)?

Anything else that I should be asking before I commit to viewing it?

Cheers all,

So far, so good. Although I do need to drain the water out of the fuel filter, according to the warning light that has flashed a couple of times at me.....

The low down grunt of the 150 horses is unbelievable, especially after 2 years of trundling round in a wallowy 90 brake 406.....

With regard to the policy of seizing uninsured motor vehicles, I know this applies to vehicles being driven on a road but does it apply to a vehicle being driven on a public place (supermarket car park say)? The reason I ask is that a person needs to be insured to drive on a road or public place, if a person is caught driving around a supermarket car park (open to the public) or on a public park without any insurance can the vehicle be seized under the legislation? From my friend Blackstone:

Public Place under the Road Traffic Act

In order for it to be proven that somewhere is a "Public Place" for the purposes of road traffic offences it must be shown by the prosecution that:

Those people who are admitted to the place in question are members of the public and are admitted as such, not as members of some special or particular class of the public (eg people belonging to an exclusive club) or as a result of some special characteristic that is not shared by the public at large, and;

Those people are so admitted with the permission, express or implied, of the owner of the land in question.(DPP v Vivier [1991])

Places that have stated cases that show them to be public places are:

1. A privately-owned Caravan site open to campers (DDP v Vivier [1991])

2. A school playground used outside of school hours as a leisure park by members of the public (Rodger v Normand 1994)

3. The "Inward Freight Immigration Lanes" at Dover Eastern Docks (DPP v Coulman [1993])

4. A field used in connection with an agricultural show (Paterson v Ogilvey [1957]) - but only during the life of the Show

5. A Multi Storey car park (Bowman v DPP [1991])

6. Car Park attached to commercial premises intended only for use of customers but accessible froma public place and with no restrictions placed on people entering the car park (May v DPP [2005])

7. Pub Car Park a Public place (R (On the Application of Lewis) v DPP.) To bring back to private there must be either a permanent or temporary form of physical obstruction to be overcome to enter the place. (R v Waters [1963] Note: A Pub Landlord, by ordering people to leave the pub car park doesn't do enough to turn a public place (the car park during opening hours) into a private place.

At the end of the day it is for the Court to decide and the prosecution to show who uses the place, when and for what purpose.

As the TV show reminds us, "Let's be careful out there." A week ago, one of my coworkers went bar-hopping on a Sunday afternoon, going from one place to another on his brand new, $13,000 Harley-Davidson motorbike. On his way home, he came around a sharp bend too quickly (speed limit 45 at that point) and crashed.

Holy buckets, Batman! He could have killed himself, instead he suffered some scrapes and bruises, (wasn't wearing a helmet) and the bike was damaged to the point it had to be towed away for repairs. Had there been any police around he would have been busted for drink driving, no doubt at all--he said he'd had enough to drink that he didn't remember leaving the last watering hole. I'm not entirely sure he learned his lesson from it either.

Now, I'm no teetotaler, not by a long shot (breaks into chorus of "I Am A Cider Drinker") but golly gee folks, if you're gonna do stuff like that please refrain from Demon Rum before getting behind the wheel. That's some head-shakingly dumb behaviour. Yowsa!

Thought this info may be usuful to other Megane Scenic owners. Had a problem with mine in that sometimes it would start first turn of the key other times it took two, three or more attempts. The culprit was the Top dead center (TDC) sensor. The sensor is located on top of the gear box next to the engine block and is held in place by 2 bolts. All that needed to be done was to remove the sensor clean with WD40 or simular and replace, a 10 min job. This was done 2 weeks ago and the car now starts first time every time!

When I woke this morning about 7, the road reports were saying that part of the M8 was closed due to a couple of accidents. By the time I came to leave for work the M8 had been closed for 4 miles into Glasgow and several feeder roads were as well.

Turns out that there had been a vehicle (assuming a lorry or a tanker) has been leaking diesel the whole way. This resulted in several accidents and must have resembled an ice rink for motorcyclists especially.

Just heard on the news that the motorway is now reopened after the full length has been gritted and cleaned up and police are appealing for the owner of the leaking diesel vehicle to contact their local station!

Something tells me he won't and that there will now be lots of reviewing of CCTV tapes to establish the cause.!

Hi,
I'm off to Ireland next week and I'm looking to hire a car for a week.

I'm getting some good quotes

carhire3000.com £79.25

easycar.com £67.97

but they both require a credit card, and i don't have one.

Hertz will accept a debit card but their best price is £92.47.

The booking call centre don't appear interested in price matching or discount.

Any ideas on way forward ?

If I book with easycar or carhire3000, i guess I'll end up with a Hertz car anyway.

Thanks Read more

> something like the Post Office's Visa Travelcard

This is just another example of lazy journalism from auntie beeb.
These are not credit cards.

Other examples :

Inflation has gone up......

growth has gone down ....

hotter temperatures .....

cheaper prices ......

20,000 volts going through it

due to legal reasons .....

I'm sure there are plenty more.
