September 2008
had a diagnostics ran on my car and it came up with a few problems.
1)Code25 injector(s) low voltage
2) code 24 speed sensor no signal
My car seems to be misfiring and getting no acceleration when throttle is pressed and it struggles as though it is not getting any fuel or no spark by my guess, but i have not a clue about cars.

There is a very tiny chip in my windscreen causing a hairline crack only 4-5mm long.
Is there a way of protecting the area to prevent it getting any worse? Read more
Had s small crack in the screen of a hire car... within days it spread. So got an Alfa 156 2.0TS for a few months instead ;-)
They can spread but it depends.

"The registration number will remain in the UK and will be going on an old red Skoda which will be seen around the Midlands."
Yes - sounds like old money.
(Road spanners, revisited)
I have several open ended and ring spanners found in this way. It started in the late 60`s - you know how it is, that glint of silver, seen in the gutter or crown of the road. One of them is top quality with four small notches carefully ground into it as an identifier.
Still see them sometimes, but modern traffic means it`s trickier to get them and then there`s image to consider - a scraggy lizard like old bloke scrabbling in the centre of the road for another 10mm spanner.
Actually I was joking about the image, because as you know, I don`t have one ;)
It`s a Magpie tendency really, because If I see one I long to make a sprint for it, if only to handle it for a while.
Do you ever see them? and are they a temptation?
;)

saw last year a cars hard top....hmm sat on the cycle path for 3 days before it was moved...strange you would have though the owner of the car would have noticed 20% of there car disappearing backwards at 60+mph...(A41)
hi again to all,,,thanks for all the previous messages regarding the rattle and poor performance,,,

is there an easy way to fool the jalopy to think its cold even when warmed up so the heater plugs kick in?
ie.. removing a wire or two,,i dont mind if the temp gauge doesnt work,,as the digital display will presumabley let me know if the fan belt has failed,,,kind regrds ,,james, Read more
Claims extra 370 further miles per year with their 5W30 A1 magnatec. (extra to what? reduced petrol?, than needing to change the oil? engine wear?)
Also claims the molecules know exactly where to go as soon as you turn the key;
Are they suggesting their oil molecules are all some micro-engineered electronic artificial intelligence programed molecule that 'knows' what part of the engine it should cling onto to prevent the most wear and tear AKA a Michael Chrichton book titled 'Prey'.
Or is this just PR mumbo jumbo to let the mind numbed consumer think their oil is better than everyone elses, and that is in fact just pumped around the engine by the oil pump. The majority of my engine is alloy anyway, thus non-magnetic.
ASDA's own brand is also A1 spec, although 10W40 and hasnt let me down in 2 years of use (3 oil changes)
I suspect that a 5W30 would just leak out the seals of a 2000 plate engine anyway. Read more
Castrol is a brand dear to any red-blooded old car freak, so I am disappointed that my pop-up filter (or whatever it is) prevents the ad from appearing on my screen.
Hi all
Migrated from Citroen Xantia to a Renault Laguna. Its a piece of junk but for some reason I actually rather like it.
With winter closing in I'd like to get the heater fan going. Zero response when you twist the fan. I've read enough on the forum to find out when the fan motor is, and I've ripped it out to test (its by the PC as I type). However, when looking at the wiring I couldn't see a connection to the dial and wanted to describe my wiring and see if its typically "french" or a hack-job by a previous owner...
From the alternator (or is it the starter motor) I have red and black wires running to a relay (split charge relay?) taped near the battery. Two more wires run from this into the bulkhead. From there I lose them, but running to the fan connector are two more red and black wires with two cut wires spliced into them, a blue one and a light brown one.
Now I'm assuming the controls stopped working so someone hacked a wiring from the starter to the fan with a relay to stop it draining the battery and that the fan was therefore likely to be always on and hence burnt out?
Thoughts? Is this normal wiring? Can I unhack it? Assuming a new fan is required regardless.
Ta in advance

IIRC the electronic version is about £800 per year. The premium and PDA versions if you need them are more.
Dear BackRoomers,
My 27,000 mile, 2.0FSI Octavia, registered in late May 2005, with full skoda Service History, has for the last six months or so been suffering from a constant, yet small, annoying oil leak, that has been making rather a mess on my driveway.
When the car was last serviced (+MOT'd + given a 3 year health check for any warranty issues) by my supplying Skoda dealer in May this year, I asked for the leak to be investigated, but other than a small amount of residue round the oil filter/sump drainage point, the dealer claimed that no fault could be found.
This week having got fed up with the oil spots slowly increasing I contacted my dealer again, they refused to carry out any investigations into the leak unless I paid for 0.5 hours labour (circa £60). Not happy with that response (together with the 25 mile round trip to the dealer) I took the car to a local garage, who investigated for problem for several hours at no cost to me - their conclusion was that the leak was from the rear main seal between the gearbox and engine - a major job for which they have quoted around 6 hours labour plus parts, for which they would charge me around £450.
They agreed with me that Skoda should have picked up this fault earlier in the year.
When I contacted my Skoda dealer to enquire about any chance of getting it done under the (now expired 3 year) warranty I got a poor response, indeed they have stated that if indeed that is where the fault lies, they will charge me a lot more than the £450 that the local garage has estimated!
I would welcome your opinions - is it worth taking this up with again with the dealer and demanding the work is carried out under warranty or raising it with head office - Skoda UK?
Many thanks

If the dealer is as brazen as you portait they are indeed a bunch of fools. Write to Skoda UK and investigate the cost of bringing a small claims recovery against the dealer. Beyond that its a dead end for you.....and another lost customer for the idiots
Clearly the Skoda dealer reputation of old is dead and on this basis i'll not be spending my money with them in the future. Same goes for VAG in general. I have a company owned SEAT Leon which has been spent nearly 8 weeks in the garage for warranty repairs during which we were told no replacement car was available. Cost to company for hire cars......£1200 and rising! Great way to treat customers eh?
My other car is a Jaguar X diesel and whilst aware of the TDCI shortcomings and Mondeo in a party frock jibes ownership has been a pleasure despite TDCI injector issues dealt with under warranty and major air con fault dealt with FOC 2 months out of warranty.
Dealer (Oxford) is brilliant and secured quick resolution to both problems with a free replacement brand new Jag delivered to ones door FOC during the work. Now thats service!
Skoda anyone??

get your codes read first then clear them....on both posts check the earthing on the rear lights this corroded and causes problems.
