Hi all
A problem you may be able to help me with.
I have a 307sw rapier 110 on an 03 plate with 85000 miles on the clock, the problem is lack of power in low revs, below 2000 after which its fine, and when its cold.
I?ve also had a anti pollution warning ,would this result in lack of power? ,but again only when it was cold and was struggling uphill(due to lack of power at low revs), it went off when it warmed up and has not returned.
A friend has suggested the problem may be the air flow meter, could he be right or is the real problem the anti pollution warning .
All comments and ideas welcome ,thanks in advance . Read more
Ive got a 1994 Nissan micra, which has started to jerk and stutter after a few miles driving. the car has had a service and has been checked over (plugs, distributor cap? etc) by a mechanic who cant seem to identify the problem. apart from the jerking which starts off intermittingly then with continued driving becames regular until it stalls or i have to pull over. the car sounds ok and there aren't any warning lights. please help as i havent got a lot of cash to spend at the moment and being charged for a diagnostic and the problem still remains is not fun. all help appreciated.

Can you post a follow-up to let us know if it cures it?
I've been running a 2002 406 HDi for a month or so and now realise the turbo just doesn't work (used to drive a petrol Astra, so no real comparison. Going up hill, or accelerating away from the lights - there's just no turbo at all. My mechanic thinks it's the Mass Air Filter, but reading various forums on the tinternet I'm not so sure - some threads suggest the high pressure fuel rail. I need to get this sorted before I take the Pug back to it's native France for a two week holiday next week. Any ideas?

That would be a first?
Hi
I have an S reg Ford Maverick, 2.7td. In the past few days my alarm fob has stopped working, and when I unlock the car the alarm sounds until I turn the key in the ignition.
Is this easy to fix? I've replaced the batteries in the fob, but it hasnt made any difference.
Any advice would be appreciated, both by me and my neighbours, who I wake up at 5am every morning when I unlock the car!
Cheers

I own a p reg Maverick 2.7 TD LWB and I am having the same problem. If you want to lock the car without setting off the alarm when you come to re-open it you should push the drivers door interior lock into the lock position while the door is open as you are getting out before you shut the door the doors will then lock and the alarm will set but most importantly the alarm will not sound when you open the door with the key i.e. 5 o'clock in the morning.
P.S. I have recently paid £5 for a users manual for the car and it does not have the reprogramming procedure for the key fob in there so any help from anyone would be appreciated.

Sometimes people who do a whole load of things wrong seem to get away with the most trivial punishment.
I know this is the 3rd question I have asked today...
Yes, you have probably gathered by now I am planning a trip to Europe Brussels Ghent.
My mate drove this weekend but I am driving next time.
Road signs and their highway code. Where do I find out what all that funny writing means?! Read more

hi all, my wifes 1991 mx5 eunos, 1.6i manual, makes a funny noise from the box when cold and when clutch is pressed, thing is the clutch was replaced not too long ago and it has only started doing this in the last 2 months, my mechanic thinks its the layshaft bearings in box but how can this be possible as when you press clutch you seperate engine from box? also wouldnt this happen over a longer period of time? ie worn brgs? the box oil has been changed and is fully topped up. My mechanic tends to make rash guesses sometimes so thought a 2nd opinion wud b gud. As i say it tends to only make the wierd groaning noise when cold and wen clutch is pressed, and i dont wanna have to buy another box without being certain, cheers all! Read more

Don't forget the Granada/Scorpio was orignally a hatch only. Then estate. It took the ugly saloon to start the downfall of a good car. Ugly in the end!
After seeing an immaculate V12 XJS drophead on Corrors tonight, I went a surfing and foolishly found this site.

I'm butting in halfway through this thread, as it degenerates into smutty talk further down.
I've had a version of the Series 3 XJ12 for 15 years, and from all the dire warnings of doom expressed here: Either all of the cars left in UK are in a bad way, or you are all too chicken to get your hands dirty. I'm in New Zealand, by the way.
As mentioned above, the KWE cars are beautifully restored and re-engineered to take out some of the 1980s faults, that honestly, most cars, and especially British ones, all had.
I have done all the maintenance on my car, and it has never been to a dealer or workshop except for safety inspections. If you choose carefully, and apply checks that you should carry out when buying any used car from that era, there is no reason why you should not have many years of motoring pleasure from your Jaguar.
Short of a full engine rebuild, which will only be necessary on a V12 if it has been abused or overheated, everything else is within the capabilities of a home-taught mechanic. There are many websites that offer advice and support for these cars, and spare parts are generally still available. Even the fuel injection ECU has is about as complex as a digital alarm clock, and usually easily repaired, or cheaply replaced.
So let's stop discouraging people from buying these cars and enjoying them. Nothing special to drive, someone said? The effortless urge of a good V12 still works its magic for me, after 15 years, and I almost always find myself glancing back at it after parking, and appreciating its classic shape.
