I'm thinking of getting another Honda Accord to replace my 8 year old one soon. I like the look of the out-going Accord, especially with 17" alloys, however, I have heard that this setup can cause tramlining problems. I read somewhere that the 2006 model overcame these problems with a different suspension setup - does anyone know whether this could be/is true?
Am I better off with the 16" wheels? Read more
I would be really grateful if someone could advise on what the likely problem is with my car, and also say how much I should expect to pay to get it fixed.
The gear change of my car has always been very good, until first and second gear suddenly became impossible to engage most of the time. Reverse has also disappeared.
When the gear change does work it seems quite normal, and when it doesn't it's like the gear was never there.
Any ideas?

The paseo is normally a very reliable little car, there were never any real issues with them.
The first thing to get checked out are the gear change cables, are they stretched? Failing that you'll be stripping down the box sadly, I suspect the synchro's and hubs may be worn.
hi
i was thinking about doing a oil change, and i was thinking is the SHELL HELIX 5W30
ok for my ford focus 1999 1.8 zetec?
also i come across Motul 5w30 FORD Specific Engine Oil Read more
The Ford Formula E 5W/30 is good stuff and cheap. Most dealers ask under £20 for 5 litres, and the Ford factors I used to use would often do it for £15 "cash".

No it's not fallen out.
Apparently I needed a booster so I went and got one. The guy that sold it to me told me to wire it to the blue and white wire that comes out of the back of the alpine. I did that and it still wont pick FM up.
Hi Folks,
Looking for some guidance here.
My mother in laws car (Scenic 1.9DCi '04), has started to play up. Symptoms are slight miss at idle and low revs, rattly engine, burning smell and smokey exhaust. All seemed to start at same time. Car still seems to have power, turbo seems to be working and misfire seems less noticeable at higher revs.
I've read a bit about EGR valve problems on these cars, and from what I've read it does sound like the valve may be sticking, but before I take it off and clean it, because it looks like a bit of a job. I wondered if anyone else agrees with my line of thinking, or if there is anything else that sounds a more likely culprit?
Best regards

Wonder if anyone can help. We've had one mechanic drive this car for a week (doing over 60miles) and it never happened to him. Another tested it on computer but apparently the fault won't log until it happens twice on the same journey - as you have to turn off to re-start this is never going to happen !
So. Firstly there is a slight whine from the gear box apparently (I can't tell). Problem is though that sometimes, and there is no rhyme or reason when or why, you can be driving along at anything between crawling in queue of traffic and 40 ish and it judders, konks out and you have to coast into the curb (or push it). It does after a few tries start again and continue like nothing has happened.
Does anyone have any ideas? It's auto, hasn't done that many miles and has been no trouble in the two years we've had it - until now. The mechanic/garage say they can't fix it til they know what the fault is. I'd be very grateful to hear.

Looking for some help here for a friend.
He has 2k to spend on a replacement for his Mondeo 1.8. He has decided that now his children are growing up he could trade down to Focus size car. His comute is about 50 mile round trip, but mostly motorway, and in little traffic. Due to budget he sees little benefit in Diesel.
He quite likes the idea of a 1.6 focus, but I wondered what other cars there are that may mean he could get something a little newer / lower mileage for his 2K?
Astra has been rulled out.
Thanks Read more
Not quite Focus sized but with that budget go for a late Mazda 626.
I'm Chairman of a hobby group, who last year, bought a brand new diesel generator, for when we do demonstrations outside of the club hq,and it is now due an oil change,as it's done 20 hours. (We don't use it a lot at the moment.)
It has to be changed with 10/30 diesel oil,of a high grade, but I'm having trouble finding some.It needs about 2 litres, and of course, has to be diesel oil.
Where can I get some, and at what cost? Read more
Thanks everyone.
Rung up the shop we bought it off last year, explained our predicament, and he said we could use 10/40w as long as it was from a quality source, and as I happened to have 1.5 litres of Shell Helix 10/40w for diesel engines, that's what it got.
He did say that it might be slightly troublesome to start in the winter,to which I replied we don't use it between October and March,so this isn't an issue to us.
Thinking about buying a master or Vauxhall Movano for my business the facelift model 04 onwards.Has anyone come across any problems with above,Will be used for joiners van doing about 6K a year.Any comments on above would be appreciated thanks. Read more

Not outstanding, but not noisy either (in the estate). I have a pair of cheapo tyres on the back (bought under duress when I had a blowout) and they thrum very annoyingly, but decent quality tyres are fine. The car is generally an outstanding long distance vehicle.
