Is there any way to find out which manufacturer sell how many cars in current year?
I am not after any specific information, but just wondering whether this information is released on public domain.
We often discuss here how popular a specific model is - but having the actual number can prove many facts.

the smmt produce monthly and ytd stats on manufacturers registration figures.

If you hover over 'data services' and then monthly stats you can get the reports from there!
I like estate cars. I need the space and have a personal preference for the driving dynamics of a "car" as opposed to those of MPVs and 4x4s.
For the past few years I have driven "mainstream" brands. No complaints at all. On the contrary, I have been more than pleased with them. However, like many backroomers I keep a keen eye on the car market and it is no secret that recently prices have softened considerably on premium larger vehicles. I have always coveted the E39 BMW Touring. Never could quite justify the cost but for various reasons including model replacement, fuel prices and so on they are starting to look reasonable at least on purchase price, if less so on running costs.
Anyway, more on a whim than anything I went to see a couple at the weekend. One had the 2.2 petrol engine ( badged 520 ) with a manual box and the other was the 3.0 auto diesel.
Test drove them both expecting to be smitten and parting with some cash. I was really looking forward to the feel of RWD again and the aural pleasure of six cylinders. Unfortunately, I'm afraid I came away disappointed. The petrol car, while in fabulous condition and highly specced, was just too sluggish. The diesel while quicker just didn't "float my boat". Both felt really dated, suddenly old fashioned if you see what I mean. Upset me a wee bit really. I had hoped one of them would end up being this years treat to myself.

Hi guys,
I've got an espace that has a split exhaust manifold/catalytic convertor.I order to remove the manifold,it looks like I have to remove(in order) the inlet manifold,throttle body,heat shield above exhaust manifold,then finally,the manifold itself.All bolts have been removed from the front of the inlet manifold,and two from the rear,but it steadfastly refuses to come off,although it is free to wobble about...just not come away towards the front of the engine bay.Any ideas??
Thanks,Jellycream. Read more

Hi guys,
Does anyone know of an insurer which offers short term insurance for Under 25's on cars above group 18?
I need to insure a Group 19 car for a period of 1 day. I usually use Norwich Union or Dayinsure for this purpose but they will only cover me for up to Group 17 as I'm under 25.
My existing insurer won't help becuase the car does not belong to me.
Any suggestions? Read more
It's hardly anything particularly fast or exotic, rather daft its such a high group given it has the same engine as my own car.
The windscreen wipers on my 99 diesel sharan just stopped working this mornig. Nothing worked at all. After much trying they started to work intermitently on one speed then a different speed. Now they only work on full speed. The wash wipe usualy activates the wipers that isnt working the wipers at all but the water is working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Read more
I have found that there is quite a lot of water getting into the passenger footwell, probably not when driving but when parked in the rain. Has anyone any idea what could cause this and how to fix it? Read more
It's very hard to remove the pollen filter/scuttle cover without breaking the top plastic securing clips or clip housings and they're not really replaceable once broken, so you either have to bodge it or buy a new cover.
I decided to buy a new cover rather than risk a leak and it was only £20-odd from Ford. The butyl sealing strip is another £2 or so and if the two are fitted correctly, they seal perfectly.
I'm sure I've read that if you're careful, it might be possible reach the pollen filter by undoing the other front clips and gently prising it apart, without the need to undo the other clips. You'd need to be extra careful though, as the seal might break even if the clips don't.
Can anyone help me figure out how the following PCP quote was calculated?
This is how it appears on the quote:
On the road price £9500
Deposit £982.47 (A)
Charges Nil
Amount of credit £8517
Interest £1260.47
Purchase fee £10
Balance payable (including final payment) £9788 (B)
Representing a total amount payable of (A+B) £10770.47
Monthly payments x36 £170
GFV £3658
APR 6.9%
I must point out that this was a reverse engineered quote working back from the monthly payment. What I don't understand is that the total amount payable on £9500 at 6.9% APR is £10511 according to all the APR calculators I have found so why the £10770?

The way to calculate is as I showed here:
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=65006&...e
You say you have reverse engineered your figures above but I presume that the figures you have been given are:
APR 6.9%
O = On the road price £9500
D = Deposit £982.47
C = On the road price £9500 less Deposit £982.47 = O - D = Amount of Credit = £8517
F = Purchase fee = £10
G = GFV £3658
P = Present value of G today at 6.9% AER = £3658/1.069/1.069/1.069 = £2995
So Amount to be financed = C plus F less P = £8517 +£10 - £2995 = £5532
Plug £5532, 6.9%, and 36 months in to
www.morley-computing.co.uk/resources/scripts/javas.../
and you get 36 monthly payments of £170.56
S = sum of 36 monthly payments of £170.56 = £6140.13
Test by reverse engineering:
S + G + D - F = £6140.13 + £3658 + £982.47 - £10 = £10,770
Having fixed top core plugs to get rid of leak, I now have a misfire with engine management
flashing as the engine is asked to accelerate. Plugs were replaced in January, leads and coil pack replaced this week, still got problem any thoughts.

Many thanks. new set of plugs fixed the mis-fire, although they were originally changed in January, think the water from core plugs had damaged these.
What is the code number? Always be careful of oxygen sensor codes.
Bank 1 sensor 2 is the post-cat sensor on whichever side of the V contains cylinder #1.
