hi i'll keep it short and sweet the exhaust on my pug has come off near the back after the box it seems to have snapped off can anybody advise if it can be welded back on or is this not possible / bad option also is this a whole exhaust replacement job can an average price be suggested for this job as always many thanks in advance to any contributors

Seems that the rear silencer (or 'back box') needs replacing. The price for the part itself, when I checked was £39.90 + VAT from GSF car parts. If it was my car, I would fit it myself in half an hour. However, I suggest you get a quote from your local exhaust place.
It would be a waste of time trying to weld it.

Hi Bigkaz,
The problem with your exhaust is that it comes in two sections at the back, and the rearmost box is only supported at the rear. The front end is held up by the joint where it is clamped to the end of the middle section. With age and vibration, the pipe fractures, and eventually falls down.It is not best practice to weld these boxes,as the steel will be quite thin, and will only fracture again.Replacement is best.Cost for both middle and rear sections will be approx. £100 or so.
Hope this helps,good luck.
Jellycream.

I the pipe has got thin enough to fracture, repairing it will only be a temporary cure at best. Fit a new one.
