Am having a new screen fitted early next week, so decided to remove the door mirrors. Have removed speakers and dash top so can see the square nuts. Using a 8mm extended allen key on the bolt head i've tried to undo them.
Trouble is, they are so tight!, and all that happens is that the nuts turn and damage the nut slot "ears". They seem r/h thread.
If I have this trouble, i'm assuming the screen fitters will/do as well. I wonder whether Renault loctite them in place.
Any ideas? many thanks John. Read more
We have just had a tow bar fitted via a reputable trailer centre on our Ford Smax. Since then we are having problems with our central locking not working when parked on our drive, strangely it works when we drive away from the house! We phoned the trailer centre who said they do not touch the central ocking part of the electrics. Could this be a coincidence or does anyone think the fittin gof the tow bar has caused a problem. They have fitted a relay on the electrics as you can hear it clicking at the back of the vehicle when the indicators or brakes are touched. Thanks! Read more
I had to have the dash panel replaced on my grand Scenic as it was faulty (not cheap either) but after picking it up the overall mileage was zero. I queried this and they said there is no way of setting the mileage so I would have to rely on my paperwork etc to prove it had been changed due to the repair.
This worries me from a resale point of view. Should I be worried or not? Read more
They should have written it in the service book showing previous , new mileage and stamped it .
I've lost the service book for my 2 year old Ford C-Max. I think it might have been left at the dealer, which has since gone out of business.
I've had the car serviced at main dealers according to the schedule, but I'm worried that without the service book I might be unable to prove the car is still in warranty

I have the invoice for the latest (2nd) service. Not sure about the first service, or the 1000 mile check.
Had a problem with my car for a while now, basically on my display i have a sport (an S in a circle) and ice (a snowflake in a circle) indicators, they flash on when i'm driving and instantly slow down the car so that it feels very heavy. I have to pull over and restart the car, if i don't do this the car cuts out and turns itself of. This is a scary problem that has happendned on the motorway when there hasn't been a hard shoulder. I took it to a peugot garage and all they said was that they would put it on a diagnostic machine to find out the problem at a cost of £90! i'm a student and can't afford this.
Has anyone had similar problems with this?........it's getting to the point where i don't want to drive it far as i'm worried for my safety! Read more

When I start motor, it will work 2-3 secs and then turn off, after 2nd try it will work just fine, no bad smoke rear.
But while gearbox is in neutral motor is going from 900 to 1000 rpm
as it knows to repeat that.
But during drive everything is OK.

Do you tend, in the minds eye, to see more than the surface when you look at cars?
In other words, do you `see` ( have awareness ) of all the hidden parts?
As an example, do you look at a Tree and `see` the sap flowing, the cambium layer, photosynthesis, chlorophyll and so on and not just wood and leaves?
If the car were to be considered more than `the sum of the parts` knowing and `seeing` the parts with the minds eye adds to the experience.... Or does it?
Do you ever long for the simplicity of only perceiving the metallic paint and seat fabric, Tabula Rasa having certain virtues over technical knowledge?
Or do you enjoy thinking about the alternators electromagnetic drag and so on, as you drive along;)

Hi
My car is on ebay now Item number: 320263482820 and I have received this email question would it work.
(( What a lovely colour Granada you have there, but what a big shame that you are getting rid off after all the money you have spend because of the Head Gasket situation. Fear not my friend, I know someone who have got the same engine type as yours with a Head Gasket problem and was treated with a bottle 'Steal Seal' mixed with Halfords 2 year Anti-Freeze. They have no more trouble with it, Steal Seal can be ordered on the internet it is easy to do it yourself, saving your Granada and saving anymore money spending on the new vechicle!
Have a nice day! )) Read more
Agree on K-Seal - except you can usually get it around half that price on eBay if you do a search.
Do follow the instructions carefully.
(G-S well worth keeping imo)
My glove box lid jammed the other week. No fault of the design, simply a function of the amount of stuuf crammed into it. Having lightened the load it works perfectly again. On the basis that at some point I must have decided that it was vital to store all this stuff in the car I tried to figure out why some of it was there in the first place. Less justifiable items included the following.......
Quite a lot of nicotine chewing gum ( hasn't worked yet :-( )
A bicycle puncture repair kit ( must have been there since last Summers holiday )
A pack of business cards (for a company I did some temporary work for three years ago)
Some old fuel receipts ( my goodness it used to be cheap ! )
A remote control for my Tom Tom ( hadn't remembered it had one )
Some replacement bulbs ( for my old car )
A tyre depth gauge ( why would I feel the urgent need to stop and check that mid-journey? )
A glove ( so where's the other one ?)
House keys ( old house )
Mobile phone charger cord ( old phone )
Some strimmer cable ( eh ?)
A torch ( flat battery which had leaked )
Security pass for a French campsite circa 2006
A broken bungee and some string
Curious to know what items others feel obliged to transport for no logical reason.

John , to, remove the mirrors on 1997 to 02 models you first remove two torx bolts from under the bonnot on the wing edge then you close the mirror inwards and at the bottom of the mirror appears a small hole . this is where you insert the 8mm allen key and loosen.the only bit undone from inside are the electric wires. hope this helps,
regards,
Kevin
