Hi there,
We've been wishing to be able to seat 6 people (or more) in our car recently, and while 5 can sit in any car from a VW Polo to a BMW X5 (to different degrees of comfort admittedly, so let's say for short distances) it seems like for 6 or more people one needs to get a full-fledged van.
What are the most 'compact' six-seaters (or more) you know of?
Anything in the style of a Berlingo/Partner/Caddy would be fine but do they ever come with (an) extra seat(s) in the back? I don't think so, but don't know too much about cars.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

I can?t even find it! Haynes makes it sound difficult & awkward including removing engine mounting. Any tips? Does the auto box make it harder? Thanks in advance.

Crankshaft SENSOR sorry, thanks
I have a Peugeot 106 that has developed a 'strange electrical problem'.
What happens is all the electrics fail but I am still able to start the engine, though sometimes the engine will not stop even with the key out of the ignition.
When this happen, if I turn any switch on or open the door etc the alternator and parking light illuminate and the petrol gauge works without the ignition on.
If I turn the ignition on everything dies again.
I'm only guessing, but I wonder if its related to a small problem I've had for a while where now and then I have what sounds like a relay clicking behind the glove box. This can happen anytime whilst driving and seems to be stopped by banging next to the indicator/light stalk or even flashing my lights/indicators.
But more recently the clicking now interferes with the radio and appears to turn it on an off, when this happened last night I tried the indicator/light stalk as usual, and all the electrics failed.
If anybody has idea what could be happening or even a suggestion of what I can try to resolve this, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks Read more

Ignition switches are common failures on all small Pugs.
Remove the column shrouds and unplug the three flat switch-wiring connectors when it won't stop key-out.
Hi
The temperature gauge needle drops off to the left moments after the engine starts, which i think then causes the two fans to start (including fan 2 even though the air con is off).
The gauge appears to be working while the key is turned to the 'battery' position.
Would be very grateful for any advice.
Thanks

Yes, it's a pain to get to on the 1.8 - it's down the back of the engine block and IIRC requires removing a number of other components to get to.
The sensor on the 1.6 however is far easier to access, as it sits between two of the spark plugs !
Me and some freinds have a challange on the go (following a debate in the local).
We all have full clean UK driving licences for 10 years+. We are going to retake our driving tests to see if we can pass first time, and theres a cash prize for the winner / person with least 'minor' faults.
Couple of questions:
1 - if any of us fail the test, does it actually mean anything legaly?
2 - is it even possible to apply and take an offical test if we already have driving licences?
Cheers.

Wearing serious hat for a moment, a late cousin of mine, a woman, whose main interest in youth was ponies, was an exceptionally good driver having been taught by a Met Flying Squad instructor at her grandfather's expense. Good old boy he was, but a terrible driver himself...
Just read an article on MSN predicting this due to the widening chasm betweente prices of Diesel and Petrol. What does everyone think. Also I have never had a satisfactory andwer to why Derv is so much more expensive when it is a cruder fuel and needs less refining. Surely it should be cheaper? Read more
Worst I've ever got in my diesel Accord was 37 mpg. 4 bikes on the roof, driven hard across b-roads. And that's basically my point, in the real world, IF you do enough miles for it to matter, diesel isn't dead yet.
Hi I've decided to get 4 new continental eco contact 3 tyres fitted as the ones I currently have on are worn. Is £180 for fitting balancing etc including VAT a good price for these? I'm impressed with the reviews of these tyres. Getting a family friend to do the alignment at a later date. Thanks Read more
andy, I have just checked on which for you (for what it is worth) and they rate the tyre as a best buy - it is good/excellent in most area's of testing - the eco bit is a misnomer apparently as they recorded highest mpg for a tyre but running a fiesta - it ain't going to make that much difference - and they quote a guide price of £50 each - black circles for my area fitted are £47 each so I think you are getting a good deal.
Our Honda Jazz 1.4 2002 has a harsh ride especially over the pot holes of UK roads of today. Can anyone tell me a solution to this problem ? Do I need softer shock absorbers and if so, what type ? Thank you

Honda did have kits to modify early versions but I read somewhere (is it in CBCB?) that they didn't do many as it caused other problems. I've also seen comments about putting some kind of rubber washer in (I think) the front suspension mounting, which stops vibrations (perhaps through the steering?) but doesn't help the ride.
I'm sure a dealer would be able to advise, but I doubt there would be much difference - ours is a late 2003 model and that has a pretty harsh ride too. The 2005 onwards models are quite a bit better.
What make tyres is your car on, and are the pressures at their minimum settings?
On just about the one occasion I was doing this on a Summers dawn in Wales I saw a something like a type of Mink or Polecat. What about you regular drivers and truckers who see dawn on the roads on a regular basis? Read more
Over the years I have seen:
Epping Forest - Eagle Owl - obviously escaped. Big? Just a bit...
You see something as big as that moving (almost totally silent too) you certailnly look twice **Eeeek!**
I was more worried for my Jack Russel Terrier cross than anyone else though :) He was certainly on the menu with a bird that size flapping around!
Also seen a few Harris Hawks in the same area over the years.
Osprey on Rutland water whilst fishing there.
Red Kite (Harrogate area) before it was announced they had been re introduced as breeders. Had never seen one before - had to look that one up to ID it.
St James Park one very lost Pelican outside the passport office! Just stood there, looking 'glum' and most confused!
An uncle who has just retired has surprised us all by announcing that he is looking at a BMW after almost 20 years of Audi ownership.
He currently has a 3 year old A4 diesel and is stricken by a two year old 320d M Sport saloon with low mileage and leather seats.
He is dithering because here and on other websites, there are conflicting comments on the BMW. Reports of rough rides and tyre noise with run flat tyres, door handles falling off and premature clutch failures. Trade reviews on the other hand, state that is simply the best car available in its class.
He has had trouble free motoring with his Audis and although the trade reviews for both for the A4 and the A3 Sportback, which his wife would prefer, are not as glowing as for the BMW, the reports from owners tell a different story. Add to this he could get a newer A4 or A3 for the same price as the BMW, I think he should stick with Audis, opinions from anyone with experience of either or both would be welcome. Read more

You most certainly CAN change them for normal ones.
That's not what I've been told. And both BMW and my insurance company said a big no,no!

O dear. How many times can a chap be wrong in such a short thread?
