I have recently bought a Rover Kensington which ran fine but now their appears to be a problem with the security fob as the ignition cct is dead. I have replaced the battery in the fob and the battery in the car is fine. Any suggestions as to solving the problem?

In ANOther Sunday Paper Clarkson was quite enthusiastic about the new Outlander.
Road test was a 2.2 Diesel - he went on to mention VW with regard to the engine.
IIRC the original 2.0 Diesel was VW and not liked but the new 2.2 is from Peugeot / Citroen and transforms the car.
Looks like for quality information HJ & the DT is still the best place Read more
Hello there, does anybody have any experience with these cables and software that link your car to the laptop?
I have a few issues and thought of buying one but I dont know what to look for there are so many. Its for a 02 plate Citroen Berlingo 1.9D, and my Dad has the same car so this would be a good purchase for us.
Thanks.

Not sure, from looking around I can see there are a few different sofware and connection tools.
The Haynes manual doesnt give anything away either, just recommends a trip to Citroen!
Any suggestions for a fun rag-top for this summer? Have £3k-£4k to spare. Insurance/tax costs not a consideration, nor fuel costs. Will be a sunny day car, so don't anticipate too much use really! Read more
>>I personally would not go near the MG what with delays for parts and dodgy reliability.
I have not seen an indication of any part supply problems for the MGF or TF car. Is there anything in specific you've struggled to get hold of?
Both xpart and Rimmer Bros stock everything that you will ever need and probably stuff that you never will. Its an old story that 'may' have been true 4 years ago but times have moved on and should not be a consideration of buying a car or not. Although I have no facts on this, but an MX5 and particularly Honda CRV as mentioned may have or will have certain parts that are difficult to come by due to being obsolete models.
I was going to update my car which would be a decent profit for a dealer. With the new road tax coming in I have changed my mind as the old car will save me a good bit bit on road tax as time goes by and still runs ok.
My neighbour has a similar car to mine but newer and I guess much more carbon efficient yet he will pay more tax than me.
My daughter needs a largish car to get the pushchairs and general tackle needed for a young family in. She will have to fork out for the extra tax and it seems daft to me. There must be many young families who need people carriers or estates just to get around, if they must bring in this new tax regime at least give young families a rebate on it. Read more
For up to 3 kids how about the Berlingo/Partner/Kangoo/Doblo type?? - road tax quite low depending on model, 3 separate seats in back, and thay all have surprisingly capacious boots, economical diesels or petrols available. Plenty of used at decent prices also. They aren't that bad to drive either - and if you are concerned about kids safety and comfort you are unlikely to be flinging them round corners.
Mind you, our 2 kids were raised "in a Renault 5" - though I have to admit that we had to buy a trailer to put the camping gear in when we went to Greece! Seems that a mojor problem these days is the "4x4 pushchairs" why do they have to be so huge with off-road tyres etc - suppose its fashion/status symbol like having a 4x4 to take kids to school?
In this morning's Telegraph there's a brief analysis of what El Gordo can do to put things right since receiving a good kick up the sporran the other night.
On fuel costs, the plan is apparently to try to force OPEC to increase production. Lowering fuel duty is dismissed on the basis that the reduction might not be passed on at the pump.
They just don't stop do they? The hole gets deeper because they keep digging.
I could be wrong, but if the duty is reduced, the supermarket chains will pass on the reduction at the pump and the majors will be forced to follow suit.
And if OPEC won't increase production (and that seems to be the current wisdom) then they can say they tried, can't they.
Anyone got any other thoughts as to how tax or duty could be reduced to the immediate benefit of the punter?

hi, after some advice before i book car into Fords. I have an 05 (new shape) 1.6 duratech ford focus. Last night i pulled out of a junction and what sounded like a bang?, difficult to hear over radio and 2 kids. Since then the engine light is coming on and off and it feels like it is running on 3 cylinders? Fine on idle, but if you rev quickly big induction noise as if no air filter, possible coil pack, lambda, crank sensor? swapped a few relays about and all fuses are fine. Dont really want to pay through the nose just to replace the coil pack which i can do myself. Car was in twice last year for cutting out intermittently and they reprogrammed the ecu. sods law 2 months out of warranty! please help. Read more
Problem is most certainly rain water (or from washing the car) leaking past the washer jets (Fords know about this!!) had the exact same problem with mine, if you have a look at your jets and the way they are mounted on the bonnet you will see that there is no rubber seal between the jet and bonnet, the revised washer jets have this seal and if your car is still under warranty then have it done free of charge , failing that you can by the new jet kits for a few quid from dealership and fit yourself.
Cheers Pete
I was told today about someone who paid a premium for a car that predates the VED emission bands. To save £100s on tax he paid £2700 for a 'W' reg Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 LS auto. I would think the dealer is laughing all the way to the bank. It seems that in order to save on VED common sense and logic are going out the window! Read more
