Hello,
With the cost of diesel at the pumps now at 119.9p and going up weekly if not daily, I'm looking at investigating the biodiesel option.
Can anyone tell me if the Ford 1.8 tdci engine can use biodiesel?
Has anyone any experience of using biodiesel in a Ford Focus?
Look forward to your replies,
Thanks in advance....... Read more

It's a chain.
Went to look for new wiper blades for a 97 Fiesta, popped into to local supermarket, not sure if can name it, but it sounds like one of the Scilly isles.
Looked at blades - fine no problem, then turned packet over to look at cars it could be fitted to and found a roll call of cars I have not seen since I learnt to drive in the late 1980's.
The most recent car was a Escort mk 6? (2000?) but most dated from 1975 - 1995.
Used to get this in another well known car parts supplier until they recently upgraded their flip books a few years ago.
Anyway anyone with classic cars last seen in the Sweeney, you know where to go!

You are wrong, Freshco is in Coronation Street.
I have a 2.0 Diesel Tourer with a stuck bonnet opening mechanism. I've read previous advice re removing the plastic wing liner to gain access to the opener cable junction box. While I can just about detach the box from its seating there is no way of handling it, with or without tools. If this method has been successful in the past I suspect the diesel layout might be different and preventing sufficient access. Any suggestions please? Read more

Bought a bike from Halford's two or three years ago in a move to explore cycling to work. Bit of a cheapie, to be honest, but I wasn't exactly going to ascend Ben Lomond with it, or do some John O'Groats to Land's End time trial...
Next day I set off, having not cycled for years, on the 7-8 mile journey into town. It was a glorious day, and I wondered to myself why I hadn't tried this before now, as I reached Glasgow city centre with relative ease.
Stopped at traffic lights in George Square, right in the centre of town, at the front of a small line of cars. Lights changed to green and I set off, perhaps foolishly standing up for a little extra leverage. To my surprise, I went down and scattered myself and the bike across a box junction in front of rather a lot of people! I remember just thinking that I had to get out the way as quickly as possible, but the first thing I spotted when I looked up was a pedal lying in the middle of the road.
I'm guessing when it was assembled for me the day before, whoever put the pedal on hadn't quite used the necessary force to tighten it properly. Went back the next day and told the young man at the bike counter, asking him to check everything over, can't say he seemed overly concerned!
I suppose I was lucky to get away with skint knees and elbows, could have been much worse had it come off in a line of moving traffic. Would have been nice to get an apology though!
Unfortunately, as mentioned, petrol stations and supermarkets don't really cater for the spares market much these days, and small independent motor shops are no longer common, so I'm stuck with them for bits and pieces.
One thing, though, I wish I could go into their branches without some smarmy get in a suit chasing me to sign-up for a Halford's credit card! Every ruddy time!
I know this has been covered before, but they really are greedy.
Called my insurance co last week because I will be doing more than my 'estimated annual mileage' - 2000 more than I anticipated actually.
They quoted me £24 extra premium which I paid over the phone on credit card. The chap typed in the number, says 'thats gone through' and I will receive confirmation in the post.
Got a letter this morning stating £24 extra premium plus £17.50 admin fee!! I called them to grumble (since this wasn't mentioned at the time of payment) but apparently it is in their T&C's and they have taken it from my card.
I do wonder at how, in this modern age, it can cost £17.50 to take a payment, update a database, and send a single sheet of paper out to me. I took up about 4mins of the operators time.
For the same money the Chinese can manufacture a cordless drill, ship it halfway around the world, and sell it in B&Q at a profit (inc 17.5% VAT). Read more
At my final employer overheads were reckoned to be 3 to 4 times wages so £17.50 administration fee probably isn't at all exorbitant.
OK, its not going to happen, its possibly bluff on the refinery managers part and the Union. But just in case and for the sake of yet another different topic..........
A multi point question, more about the personal issues around potential fuel supply problems.
(given the current shutting down of the Grangemouth refinery and threats by others to make the situation worse)
1) What`s your plan if there are fuel restrictions?
2) What happened last time in 2,000 and will experiences from that mean a different approach?
3) What`s your range from a full tank
4) what are you definitely going to follow through with if restrictions get severe?
( I have a Ferry booked to France and just under a 270 mile trip to Dover)

BBC news being inflamatory this morning - they are one of the biggest culprits.
I am in Broxburn next Thursday, Will fill up on the way up when the car runs low and that tank will get me home and into France and after that I wont care for 14 days!
In all my time on the road , I can't recall seeing the BIB using an Audi, even the unmarked cars they seem to increasingly use.
Do they have them in your area, is it they lack ability?
Can't be down to cost as they all seem drive Mercs and Beemers round here.
I expect one day to see the local CPSO driving around in a drop top Bentley.
See a new A4 today, looks just like the old one except they've ruined the rear end. Read more
Very nice liveried silver A3 3.2 quattro in Edinburgh.
Yeah, I saw a striped A3 attending an RTA on the M8 (but too far away to be sure if it was police or para-medic)
Thanks for the advice Peter
