I am in the process of importing my Swiss LHD galaxy following my return to the UK after 2 years living & working in Switzerland.
The Customs & Excise form that I am filling in asks for the Engine number (in addition to the VIN). Can anyone help me locate this - as I can see nothing obvious in the engine compartment, and it is not listed on my Swiss registration documents?
Thanks for any help

Can anyone help with advice on 53 reg Streetka suspension (don't think it's the same as Ka?). The lower end of the strut on this car is tied to the frame with a wishbone. At the inner end the wishbone is carried on two rubber bushes. I noticed when changing the brakes last week that the rubber bushes appear to have been bonded to the wishbone, but the rubber now seems to be splitting away. Is this common and will it need new wishbones?
Car is just 4 years old, has 29k on the clock and light use only (one lady owner etc etc).
Thanks

Not Ford but general view of Vauxhall club members is you can pay a fraction of the genuine VX price for bottom arms but if the cheap pattern metal doesn't fracture and cause a nasty crash, the rubber bushes can be rubbish needing new arms again in a very short time. You can of course keep your existing arms and have something like Powerflex bushes installed that will probably outlast the car. www.powerflex.co.uk/
Engine loses all acceleration, Glow Plug Light starts flashing, rev counter drops to zero and engine just seems to be in tick over but doesn't stall. Have to turn engine off and restart.. Have taken it in to local garage after problems going up & down motorway to Nottingham last weekend and they plugged there computer but found no error codes to try and solve the problem!! Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.. Read more
just had the same problem a diagnostic brought up the accelerator pedal (APP) sensor. only just had the pedal and sensor changed at cost of £120, but after bout 100 miles so far seems to be running fine, i wouldnt take it to ford though as their quote for a diagnostic was £90 and had to wait a week, quick glance through yell.com first garage called was £40and could fit me in first thing morning after. the repair at ford was going to roughly be £150 so shop around, the repair is also quick got car back within 2 hours includin another test drive and diagnostic check to make sure that the problem was rectified, hope this helps
My dad had an accident so he's received a courtesy car today which is Cold CZ1 08 plate. The car shows km rather than miles in the computer display screen which I'm finding really annoying. Don't have the manual so would like to know how could I change the reading from km to miles please?

OK, so I have the book in front of me.
It suggests, on Page 3-21 onwards, that the display can be changed from automatic reset to manual reset.
Press and hold top right button then press bottom right button within 1 second. A buzzer will sound and the reset mode has changed.
The reset mode is indicated by a number next to the temp - 1 for auto, 2 for manual.
Auto mode resets the MPG after 4 hours (like the Merc system).
Manual allows the display to be reset at any time.
I haven't tried this since we first got the car (a year ago) but I do remember that it doesn't work in quite the way you would expect. Perhaps it resets back to auto when switched off or maybe it still only does the journey average, but manual allows you to reset mid-journey, whereas auto doesn't??
Anyway, give it a try and let us know.
I know my daughter, whose car it is, like the auto reset as she tried to beat the figure for each journey to work. However as I don't repeatedly do the same journey I prefer to do full tank to full tank figures.
'Finally i have checked our system (which is now correct, honestly!!) for costs regarding the Timing Belt and Accessory Belt to be fitted to your 182 and have been quoted All In £700.00, then there is you 10% discount which will then bring the total to £630.00.'
My BIL has sent me an email from his local Renault dealer (I quote above).
Is this really a realistic cost? About twice the cost of similar work on the Passat diesel.
And I thought that was expensive!

Autodata quote 5.2 hours to do job & we sell a kit for £156+vat (RRP) so at main dealer rates with the vat it does seem about right.

Apart from charliesb's suggestion, if you have the excellent, highly regarded Irfanview and plug-ins (freeware), the means to create a slideshow including timed advancements is incorporated. There's even an MP3 player..:-)

Mine too has deveoped a steering creak most noticable when turning in and out of
my drive also when parking in a parking bay. You mention that yours was fixed
under warranty what was the cause of the problem?
I think it was the track-rod ends. The rubber boots had split, or something caused the lubricant to dry out. I did have to take the car back to them twice, because they hadn't fixed it the first time. Once it was done the steering was noticeably lighter too, though it's since got a bit heavier again.
I have recently changed my fuel filter on my 03 Plate 2l TDCI Mondeo, since I have changed it the engine has started spluttering, Fuel consumption has considerably dropped and there is excessive white smoke coming from the exhaust. I was wondering if anyone could help me find the problem?
Thanks in advance

You'll need to get it read with something that can access manufacturer codes - EOBD codes like that P0200 are virtually useless now.
This may just need the injector correction factors re-coding.
anyone able to tell me how to set the correct time on clock on 6000cd?
If it is automatically set why is the time wrong

Trying to remember as we sold our C-max , but , press menu button for a few secs until display shows changes then tap button quickly until variation shows ' set time ' turn control button until correct time is shown. You will feel clicks on button for hour or minute change.
Time wrong as it may be defaulted to GMT + 1 or 2 hrs. Think it best to set with RDS to off.
Hope this helps as it is all from memory.
Try as I do, I cannot seem to emulate the pristine finish on my black Mini when returned from a service by my local BMW dealer. I use copious amounts of clean water, from a clean plastic bucket, applied with a clean sponge, and removed with a clean chamois. I have even resorted to shampoo additives, but to no avail...still covered with smears!
Your comments please...there must 'a trick of the trade' I am missing out on! Read more
Eventually, yes. I don't know how long it will last, though.
It's a risk which we just don't want to take! :)

There may still be a label on the cam-belt cover; or in the front cover of the service book; or somewhere in the rear floor area.
You're looking for 1Z/AHU.
