That's a crank sensor code. Check it's resistance and wiring continuity.

Also check that the feed relay to the main ECU is working and check the pump timing.

When/how did this start?

Just interested in comments really.

Brothers Honda Jazz went in for it's 2nd annual service at a main dealer "down south" recently. £190 later he drove away happy.

2 weeks later (whilst on holiday in Cornwall), horrible grinding noise from front of car. RAC called... jacked car up to find front brake pads had worn down to bare metal!

Comments/thoughts?

PS thankfully the discs aren't scored too badly... Read more

Last time my Panda 4x4 went in for a service the dealers suggested that the front pads might not make it to the next service but did not even try to persuade me to have the job done. They simply suggested I keep an eye on things and maybe bring the car in after a few months for them to check the wear, I found this a very fair and honest approach.
I'm a bit more worried that the girl on reception also said that if the brakes got very noisy I should get them checked. I think she was implying that I might be hearing metal on metal. However, I suspect this was her own contribution and not the official policy of the dealer.
In general I'm finding dealers to be more honest, competent and much better in communication than in years gone by. There will always be the bad guys but most have cleaned up their acts, probably in response to consumer opinions and the will of manufacturers to maintain good customer relations.

Another morning driving in the fog.
And the usual minority who drive without dipped headlights. Including a learner driver with an "experienced" teacher.
Many cars are fitted with lights that automatically illuminate in such conditions. Maybe its time to make all cars have the facility fitted compulsoraly, or drive around with dipped lights on all the time, for those dumb enough to forget. There is no excuse for any driver to motor along in reduced visibility without their headlights on. Not side lights either. You see lorries, coaches driven by professional drivers that should know better. I'm surprised there are not more pile ups in this kind of weather.
I must say, IMHO, the worst culprits for driving in these conditions without lights are women drivers. Read more

"dont really see them till your dipped headlights reach them "

What car do you drive. If it's modern there is no such thing as dipped headlights. Assume you're having a laugh?

You've got side/parking lights, headlights and main beam. Hope you're not driving on parking lights!

I've got an issue with my 2006 Suzuki Ignis. While driving straight, the steering needs to be in tilt position about 10 degrees towards right.

There is no ther issue.

Went to dealer for a fix, but they say it needs adjustment for steering and not covered under warranty. So, if I want to get it fixed, I need to pay for it (appx £40)

I've sent an email to Suzuki asking for an explanation.

But what with other manufacturers? Isn't it a warranty claim?

{guess what I have added to the subject header because the 3 separate requests were ignored!} Read more

My Ibiza has started pulling to the left ever so slightly. I just put it down to speed bumps and heavily cambered roads as it tracks arrow-straight.

a young colleague recently purchased an R reg 318 coupe. Having splashed out on the obligatory (no he's not a chav just misguided :)) window tints and huge M3 alloys with the lowest profile tyres possible, he reckons the effect is spoiled by the 318 badge on the bootlid. Can anyone advise the best way to remove the badge without doing any damage? Read more

You can order BMW(and MB) without badges but it's an on-cost option.

The HJ Home page - on the RHS there is a heading - Recent Posts

They look more like the last post - some date early January - I thought these posts updated automatically from the content in the BR - obviously it is a manual process that is not working! Read more

I've been given a Toyota R/C (from a '90s Corolla, I think, when it had a CD player fitted) and would like to fit it in my old Kia. My display's had it - it makes tuning quite a challenge.

The physical size is fine, but without a wiring diagram for either available, I'm stumped.
There's no Haynes for the Kia, and I can't find any info on the interweb thingy for the new R/C.

I don't want to spend too much, because I don't even know if the Toyota R/C works.

If I could find wiring diagrams, and a plug with tail for the new R/C (scrapyard?) I could probably lash something up with chocolate strip.

I doubt if I could find a suitable lead I could 'plug and go' with, unless anyone knows otherwise? Read more

Thanks Kp.

Further thought, I've realised It's probably got a code as well, and ther's no way of asking the previous owner, he's sold the car and subsequently died. I'm giving up, and tuning blind still.

Anyone want an old Toyota R/C?

First the government declares LPG to be a good clean fuel that would help the environment. So people put there hands in their pockets and spend £2,000 to convert their nasty emission belching 4X4's in an attempt to keep the moaners happy.

Then Bingo, LPG is suddenly not good enough and its up with the congestion ( sorry- I meant emissions tax ) charge on such vehicles. Don't forget, it was the govt that gave away millions in 'Powershift" grants to persuade people to switch to LPG. Now it's hand rag is sticking the knief in to those that did.
