How much time do I need to allow to get into Milton Keynes from the M1 on Thursday?
Travelling from the north and need to be near Abbey Hill roundabout (A422). Should I use Junction 15 or 14?
Driven past the queues several times but this time I have to join it. Read more

Hello,
My heater gauge on the dash dials is not working, i'm just wondering where to start to try and get it working again. Is it likely that it stopped working as a result of the webber card being fitted??
Also, maybe linked to this. the red flashing light ( alarm/immobiliser light) is flashing when indicators are being used, can't deciode whether this is cool or not:) but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :)

Have a look at the top hose elbow as it leaves the engine. How many sensors are fitted and how many wires are there to each?
Hello,
Can anybody help please!! I have recently noticed that one of my relays has been going, well nuts. Eratic clicking on and off, i think i have diagnosed correctly that the relay in question (numbered 1) is concerned with idling speed as when i hear it click on in neutral the idling speed increases slightly. When this relay is having one of its' bad days (normally during acceleration or dropping revs) it is causing my headlights and dash lights to pulse, which is obviously not good.
I'm wondering whether maybe this relay is redundant now as i am running a webber carn with a manual choke. or is it still needed? If i remove the relay my revs seem to be ok, and no pulsing of headlights anymore. I'm just a bit worried that the relay may be important or that by removing it i am ignoring a more serious problem that is causing this in the first place.
Just one more thing that might help. when i bought the car the guy told me that he had had a problem with pulsing headlights and that it was solved by fitting a new alternator ( actually not a whole alternator just a small part of it was replaced), not sure if this could shed any light on the problem i'm having, doesn;t really seem connected but i'm new to all this so i wouldn't know :)
Any help would be much appreciated :)
Thanks
Neil

I doubt that the Weber [pronounced Vaber incidentally] has any heated passageways; but some of those wires are live and should have been properly insulated and secured.
If they have been shorting; then that may account for your relay misbehaving.
has anyone any advice/comments on fitting split cv boots?.is it advisable to clean joint with methlayted spirit before applying adhesive?. Read more
I have never had any long lasting success with split boots, so I can't recommend them.
Friend has a 1995 Scorpio estate with the Cosworth engine. Just failed the mot with some welding issues. There is also a noise that may or may not be a wheel bearing. He wants rid of it - any money would be a bonus.
It had a cam chain failure about 10k miles ago, and as a result required most of a new engine. With this new engine in mind, is it worth anything to anyone (on here or not) and how should he shift it?
He doesn't really have the cash to do the work - apparently the welding is close to the fuel lines, so lots of labour costs for relatively little actual welding.
He's also just had to lay out £1200 for repairs to their other car!
Any thoughts from the oracles of wisdom please?
Thanks

Tell him to stick it on ebay advertised as a cosworth engine still in in a car and that the buyer takes the whole lot away. Any car part on ebay with a cosworth prefix goes for a massive premium. It will find a number of willing buyers.
For me the answer is definitely 'Yes'. Although it was a long time ago, I can remember the Ford Anglia with much satisfaction. Kisses came sooner but I just cannot be sure who was the first victim....there were so many of them.
Come to think of it, I seem to recall learning to kiss was less stressful than learning to drive and I passed the kissing test at my first attempt...even if I say so myself :o)

Hi.
Changed the hcv on our 99 zetec 1.25 recently, but only getting hot air while engine is at a fast idle, the air cools at normal idle until just luke warm.
Also noticed the rad is cold including the top and bottom hoses.
The temp gauge only rises to mid way, no matter how its driven or how long it stands idling, and the fan doesnt kick in, probably due to the cold rad, assuming the fan sensor is in the rad.
Any ideas? Thermostat? Water pump?Naughty replacement HCV?

Haven't had a ballvalve in for years(jiggle-pin was the correct name)-most now have a nick
I bought a genuine Ford thermostat with a 'jiggle-pin' last year (albeit for a pushrod engine not a mordern thing where the thermostat purchase includes half the engine).
i have a renault megane 2002 diesel 1.9dci i recently added redex diesel fuel additive to a full tank of diesel two days later my service light came on with the message check injectors , is that a coincidence or is it down to the additive and why did the message come up , i took it to the garage who reset the computer and told me to come back if the message comes on again i didnt tell them i put redex in just in case it invalidated the warranty

It's one of those ideas that has sound reasoning at the heart of it but once we're "all doing it" the advantage is lost. Just as all new cars have ABS and a third brake light, people seem to brake harder and later and leave ever shorter stopping distances and so on; if the whole population wore hi-vis vests all the time we would eventually fail to notice them.
Lights on all day is now the rule in Austria, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic and Scandinavia but AFAIK it will not be introduced in all 27 EU states. The system is optional on new cars and permitted in most states in the USA, where research into accident reduction so far seems to be inconclusive.
Where daytime lights are in force, my own solution to the "invisibility" of motorbikes - is to allow yellow lights only for motorbikes, so that they would still stand out. Clip-on yellow filters could be removed at rider's will (motorways, night time, whenever)

Bit late but a tweak to the above. Heading down the A508 towards MK turn right where signposted to Ashton. Go through village and out the other side to the A5. Much quicker over the roundabout at Stony Stratford and once on the dual carriageway no problems.
